Wimbledon 2013 on BBC Radio
BBC Radio 5 live and 5 live sports extra will offer daily coverage throughout Wimbledon 2013. Shelagh Fogarty and John Inverdale welcome listeners to the unique SW19 atmosphere, across a variety of platforms and devices with live commentary, news and interviews throughout the tournament covering all the tennis action, plus all the latest news and sport headlines.
John (12:00-16:00), Shelagh (16:00-20:00) and tennis correspondent Jonathan Overend will bring over 170 hours of coverage during the championships. There will be live commentary, debate and in-depth analysis from some of tennis’s greatest names including Pat Cash, Richard Krajicek, Jana Novotna and the welcome return of Nick Bollettieri – who has coached the Williams sisters and Andre Agassi among others.
Additional court coverage will come from BBC 5 live sports extra for the first eight days of the tournament.
2001 Wimbledon Champion Goran Ivanisevic joins 5 live’s team of expert summarisers which also includes Lisa Raymond (Laura Robson's doubles partner), Bethanie Mattek-Sands, Mark Woodforde, Katie O'Brien, Barbara Schett, Jeff Tarango, David Felgate, Frew McMillan and Jeremy Bates.
Reporting from the courts of SW19 will be Alastair Eykyn, Alison Mitchell, David Law, Iain Carter, Russell Fuller, Vassos Alexander, Nick Lester and Philip Studd. Blue Peter's Helen Skelton also returns this year, along with Dot Davies, Eleanor Oldroyd and Ed Smith.
And finally, the much-loved Radio 5 live phone-in, 6-Love-6 With John McEnroe, returns on Tuesday 25 June and Tuesday 2 July. Listeners will have a chance to put their questions and opinions to the former Wimbledon Champion as he dissects the championships so far and gives his unique perspective on this year’s hopefuls.
Highlights of the day can be downloaded via a daily podcast, with photo galleries and videos available on the Radio 5 live website.
