The Voice UK: digital offering

The Voice UK is a hugely interactive format, and the first two series saw high levels of audience engagement across the various different platforms. Series 2 alone saw 55 million YouTube views of series clips, 600k app downloads and two million tweets across the series.

The third series will showcase new and exciting ways to interact and engage. In addition to a brand new app, the online spin-off show The Voice Louder has been revamped. This year it will be hosted by Emma Willis and Marvin Humes, and they’ll be asking viewers to get involved – to send messages, pictures and videos for inclusion in The Voice Louder show, as well as across various social media platforms. There will be a small number of The Voice related hashtags which will allow audiences to contribute, and to seek out specific content related to the show. The Voice Louder will also feature as an episode on BBC iPlayer.

This year, track listings for each show will be available on The Voice UK website and audiences will be able to use BBC Playlister to save their favourite songs and listen to original versions of songs featured in the series via The Voice UK playlist on Spotify.

In addition, the BBC website will feature show highlights as well as a regular blog which this year will have a humorous tone and feature some special insider characters.

Following the success of last year’s The Voice Predictor Game, this year sees the launch of a brand new app with a richer game experience and extra features. Audiences will be able to re-live all the performances from the shows, and have access to special backstage clips, galleries and news.

Also new to the app this year, the brand new HomeCoach Game provides the audience with a unique experience, by putting the viewer in the coach’s chair. HomeCoach gives audiences the opportunity to see exclusive blind audition previews, decide whether or not they would turn based purely on the artist's voice and ultimately earn stars if their decision matches the coaches’. During the show viewers can play along with the coaches, rate the performances and see what other HomeCoaches across the country think. For the battle and knockout stages there will be a trivia quiz during the week and games during the show. During the live shows HomeCoaches will be able to join the artists’ fan walls, rate the performances and voice their opinion in live polls.

In addition to the HomeCoach game, the app also features the online spin-off series The Voice Louder, hosted by Emma and Marvin, as well as a ‘latest’ section with performance clips, news, galleries and backstage videos featuring superstar coaches, Kylie, Tom, will.i.am and Ricky.

The app is available for mobile and tablet iOS and Android devices, and the HomeCoach game is also available to play online as a Flash game at bbc.co.uk/thevoiceuk.
