All of the cameo performances in the series are great and provide unique moments in the show. Plus, I got to have Diana Vickers and Bekka Bowling play my love interests. What a hassle!

What attracted you to Top Coppers?

It was a combination of the fantastic script and the opportunity to work with John Kearns. As I had hoped, the script was hilarious to perform and working with John was utter joy. Would do it again in a second.

What is the relationship like between Mahogany and Rust?

It’s a brotherly relationship – John is the more responsible one while Mitch is more carefree. Individually both of them are pretty clueless but magic happens when they work together.

Which actors from cop shows and films of the Seventies and Eighties inspired you?

Eddie Murphy in Beverly Hills Cop, Leslie Nielsen in Police Squad, and Paul Michael Glaser from Starsky and Hutch. Although I don’t remember any of them having to dye their hair bright red.

What was it like working with the amazing cameos? What did they bring to the process?

In the first week of filming, I got to work with Rich Fulcher and Simon Farnaby, which was very exciting as I am a huge Mighty Boosh fan. All of the cameo performances in the series are great and provide unique moments in the show. Plus, I got to have Diana Vickers and Bekka Bowling play my love interests. What a hassle!

Do you have any funny anecdotes from filming?

Both John and I try to be as helpful as possible when on set. Everyone works so hard and we’re all one team at the end of the day. Our dedication to this pursuit turned into a battle to be the crew’s favourite. I started by taking my clothes back to wardrobe promptly after filming every day, buying sweets for the crew and bringing them peppermint tea. John found out and followed suit, buying chocolates and being very helpful to everyone on set. Things escalated when, on my only day off, John sent me 23 photos of himself smiling with every single person on set. That really cut deep. But I had the last laugh though. I really hope the costume girls are enjoying their fleet of Mercedes!

If you could sum up Top Coppers in three words what would they be?

Unique character comedy.
