Character descriptions for The Missing series two

Julien Baptiste
Julien Baptiste is a renowned French missing persons detective, but finds himself unable let go of his past cases in order to settle into retirement. The return of Alice Webster opens up a case that goes right to the heart of Julien, as he races out of his own jurisdiction to pursue a 12 year-old case that he refused to let die. As his behaviour becomes more erratic the people around him begin to question his motives, as he once again becomes embroiled in an obsessive hunt for a missing child.
Alice Webster (pictured)
When Alice stumbles back into the town she was abducted from 11 years previously, nobody is prepared for the dramatic repercussions her return sets into motion. Back with the family she hasn’t seen in over a decade, Alice struggles to adapt to her new-found freedom. When it is revealed that Alice may hold vital clues about another missing girl who has not yet been found, she finds herself at the centre of a desperate hunt for the truth.
Gemma Webster
Gemma Webster is Alice’s mother. Having dreamed for years of the moment her little girl would walk back in the door, she struggles to come to terms with the young woman who has returned. Her obsessive search for the truth about what happened to her daughter only serves to push her further away from her husband and son.
Sam Webster
A strong, straightforward military man, Sam is Alice’s father and Gemma’s husband. Pushed to the brink by the thought of what has happened to his little girl, Sam holds on to her return with a desperate conviction that sets him at odds with his wife and son.
Matthew Webster
Matthew is Alice’s brother, and the son of Sam and Gemma. An introverted, intense young man, he’s never quite been able to shake the guilt of having been the last person to see his sister before she was abducted. When Alice returns, he is once again made to feel culpable in a shocking turn of events that creates a bitter animosity between himself and his father.
Eve Stone
Eve is a Sergeant in the Military Police, charged with leading the investigation into Alice’s abductor after the girl returns to Eckhausen. Eve is sharp and straight-talking, with a steely resolve, but her professional involvement with the Webster case becomes inextricably tangled with her personal life.
Adrian Stone
Brigadier Adrian Stone is Eve’s father and head of the Eckhausen base in 2014 when Alice returns. He is bullish, domineering, a natural born leader, but he cares deeply for his daughter and will do anything to protect her.
Daniel Reed
Daniel is a young British trooper living and working on the base in Eckhausen. An intense, angry, and confused young man, he idolised his father and is left heartbroken after his death. Soon after the funeral, Daniel goes missing from the base, desperately seeking answers about his father’s life.
Jorn Lenhart
An officer with the local German police in Eckhausen, Jorn becomes caught up in the Webster case, sharing jurisdiction with the Military Police. His quiet, humble demeanour masks a sharp mind and a kind heart, and he becomes a valuable resource for Julien throughout the investigation.
