Meet the Coaches

Hi, we’re The Mind Set.

Published: 6 March 2017

We have all persevered through our GCSEs or Nationals - and have come out the other side!

We’re from all sorts of backgrounds and from all corners of the UK, and we’re not all A* students either. Some of us did resits, others battled against illness or family difficulties during their exams. But the one thing we all have in common is that we found a way to reach our individual potential and we want to help you do the same.

Click on each of us below to find out a bit more about our personal stories...

"Exams aren’t everything... the results are important but it’s what we make out of it and what we do with these results that defines us."

“Now and again a wee episode of Call The Midwife with a cuppa was exactly what I needed!”

“Find your way of learning, because not everyone learns the same, that’s what I realised.”

“It was important for me to reflect upon why I was so stressed and why it was so important to me and filter out the pressure that came from trying to be better than other people…”

“Past papers are a dream come true.”

“There will be a large amount of students every year who do not succeed and maybe need some guidance and reassurance that they aren’t such ‘failures’.”

“I learnt that you learnt a lot by doing.”

"Choose your hobby and work it into your revision!"

“Spelling has always been an issue for me since Year 7. It has made it difficult for me… I dealt with it by notifying teachers and had dyslexic tests”

“I don’t want other students to go through what I did, I don’t want people crying over their exams or suffering from anxiety it’s not necessary”

“Your mental health is more important than any grade and a mark on a piece of paper does not define who you are.”

“Last year - I was very unconfident, I couldn’t put my hand up in class and then I realised that because I didn’t want to ask questions I didn’t tell the teacher when I was struggling…”
