Karen, 54

"I always thought I’d like to run a B'n'B, I hope the reality will live up to the dream. I think it’s going to be amazing."

Now that her children have grown up and left home, Karen from Sussex has wanderlust and wants to build a new life abroad. A single mum and former army wife, she loves the countryside and places strong emphasis on family life, so rural Italy feels like a home from home for her.

For most of her life, Karen has had a busy schedule, looking after her children and their multiple extra-curricular activities, especially with horses. Having previously worked in ski lodges as a chalet girl and in Hong Kong as a cook, Karen enjoys the opportunity to share her passion for food with other people and is an excellent hostess.

Beginning a new life in Tuscany, Karen loves the idea of farming her own food and hopes to set up a stylish B’n’B in the countryside.
