“Coming to Italy after everything that I’ve been through has given me a real sense of purpose, it’s exactly what I need. There’s got to be something more.”

Keen chef and qualified massage therapist Gill is from Kent and a widow. She believes this opportunity could be her lifeline, providing her with a new direction and hope for the future.  Having gone through a difficult period of her life in the wake of losing her partner to cancer, she hopes that a move to Italy would enable her to start from scratch, far away from the UK, and pursue the dream they had shared of starting a new life in Europe.

In Autumn 2015 Gill and Graham were in France looking for a house to buy and move to permanently, before his condition rapidly deteriorated. Now, determined to make their lifelong ambition of opening a B’n’B abroad a reality, Gill wants to do her late partner proud and create an upmarket guesthouse with a calming atmosphere to attract couples.

In spite of lots of setbacks in her life, the single mum of two has carried on and tries to remain open-minded to new possibilities. As well as making her own soap, bread, chutneys and jams, Gill enjoys upcycling furniture and recently started working at a local pub as a chef, as she adores cooking and trying new recipes. Gill hopes that experiences she has in Tuscany will mark a turning point, from where she can regain her confidence and passion for life.
