The Chief Conductor Elect of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Thomas Dausgaard, leads his new orchestra in an all-Sibelius programme (15 August)

Andris Nelsons conducts the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (19 July) as well as the visiting Boston Symphony Orchestra (22 and 23 August), of which he is the Music Director

Xian Zhang conducts the BBC National Orchestra of Wales in the London premiere of Qigang Chen’s Iris dévoilée (29 July)

The West–Eastern Divan Orchestra returns with founder Daniel Barenboim (18 August) both conducting and playing the piano in a programme that includes Beethoven’s Triple Concerto (for Violin, Cello and Piano)

Sir Simon Rattle conducts the Vienna Philharmonic in Elgar’s epic The Dream of Gerontius with the BBC Proms Youth Choir and world-class vocal soloists Magdalena Kožená, Toby Spence and Roderick Williams (11 September)

Marin Alsop, the first female conductor of The Last Night of the Proms in 2013, returns to the podium this year with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and guest artists pianist Benjamin Grosvenor, soprano Danielle de Niese and tenor Jonas Kaufmann (12 September)

• Keith Lockhart conducts the BBC Concert Orchestra (6 September)
• Donald Runnicles conducts the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra (2, 3 August)
• Ilan Volkov conducts the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra (16 August)
• Juanjo Mena conducts the BBC Philharmonic (1, 13 August)
