Family Fun
The BBC Proms offers a broad range of events aimed at families and children, designed to enrich their musical experience, inspire and educate.

The annual Children’s Prom celebrates the wonderful world of Wallace & Gromit. The Aardman characters have been firm family favourites for many years and this summer make their first expedition to the Royal Albert Hall. With the help of violinist Tasmin Little, conductor Nicholas Collon and his Aurora Orchestra, Wallace & Gromit find themselves catapulted into the middle of a Prom, with hilarious results! There will be specially commissioned animation from Nick Park and his team, as well as a screening of one of their most loved adventures, A Matter of Loaf and Death, with the score performed live by the Aurora Orchestra (29 July).
As the culmination of a major youth singing programme, The Bach Choir, BBC Singers, National Youth Choir of Great Britain and children from several London schools come together to perform The Angry Planet by Bob Chilcott, with words by prizewinning poet Charles Bennett, highlighting the topical issue of protecting our environment (5 August).
Another major event for families is the matinee on August Bank Holiday Monday (27 August): the specially formed Proms Family Orchestra joins the Northern Sinfonia and Afro-blues duo Amadou & Mariam for a concert of diverse musical styles, ranging from 2012 featured composer Frederick Delius to African music.
The young Montenegrin guitarist Miloš Karadaglic´ joins the concert which promises to offer something for everyone.
For the first time, seats are half-price for under-18s for all Proms concerts across the season (except for the Last Night), and the complementary Proms Plus programme offers lots of ways for children and families to get involved for free.
