Two American orchestras visit the Proms - Pittsburg Symphony Orchestra and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, who make their Proms debut alongside Music Director Louise Langree.

The UK’s first BME orchestra, Chineke!, makes its Proms debut with a performance including the world premiere of Hannah Kendall’s The Spark Catchers (30 August).

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra appears in two programmes: first for Ten Pieces Presents… Sir Henry’s Magnificent Musical Inspirations! (23 July) and again for a Prom with violinist Joshua Bell and mezzo-soprano Stéphanie d’Oustrac under the baton of Charles Dutoit (17 August).

The Chamber Orchestra of Europe return with Bernard Haitink who has been conducting at the Proms for over 50 years.

Making its Proms debut, the Latvian Radio Choir gives three consecutive concerts; one with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, followed by a Late Night performance of Rachmaninov’s All-Night Vigil (Verpers) (13 August) and lastly a PCM at Cadogan Hall (14 August).

International orchestras visiting the Proms in 2017 include: Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, Mariinsky Orchestra and Chorus, Oslo Philharmonic, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and Vienna Philharmonic.
