Ten years after he first appeared at the Proms, Edward Gardner opens the 2017 season leading the First Night of the Proms (14 July). Gardner is followed by Daniel Barenboim and Bernard Haitink (below), who also conduct in the opening weekend.

John Wilson conducts the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, in his new role as Associate Guest Conductor (25 July), and returns two weeks later with the John Wilson Orchestra for two semi-staged performances of Oklahoma! (11 August).

Marking his first appearance with the London Symphony Orchestra at the Proms, Sir Simon Rattle (above) leads a performance of Schoenberg’s Gurrelieder (19 August).

Kevin John Edusei (above) makes his Proms debut alongside Chineke!, conducting a programme including music by Hannah Kendall, George Walker and Rimsky-Korsakov (30 August).

The BBC Symphony Orchestra’s Chief Conductor Sakari Oramo takes to the podium four times, including the Last Night Of The Proms (18 August, 22 August, 30 August and 9 September).

Making her Proms debut, Karina Canellakis (pictured) conducts the BBC Symphony Orchestra in a programme including Missy Mazzoli’s Sinfonia (For Orbiting Spheres) (5 September).
