Digital is at the heart of BBC Music - from live and on-demand music programmes in BBC iPlayer and BBC iPlayer Radio to personal and curated playlists in BBC Music Playlister - bbc.co.uk/music brings the BBC’s music content together in one place that fans can enjoy whenever and wherever they are.
BBC Music Playlister has seen over 10 million tracks added since launch last year and from today, music fans can add tracks directly from BBC iPlayer (on desktop) when signed in. Whether it’s PJ Harvey from Peaky Blinders or Etta James from Strictly, they will be able to remember and listen to music from their favourite BBC TV shows.
In the lead up to BBC Music Playlister’s one year anniversary this month, the following tracks have been revealed as the most popular over the past year:
- Happy – Pharrell Williams
- Rather Be (feat. Jess Glynne) – Clean Bandit
- Waves (Robin Schulz Remix) – Mr Probz
- Hideaway – Kiesza
- I Got U (feat. Jax Jones) – Duke Dumont
- Nobody To Love – Sigma
- My Love (feat. Jess Glynne) – Route 94
- Stay With Me – Sam Smith
- Sing – Ed Sheeran
- Summer – Calvin Harris
From today, BBC Music Playlister will also offer a much wider range of editorially curated playlists from BBC presenters, programmes and events – all available on the Playlister site - as well as through the BBC’s streaming partners Spotify, Deezer and YouTube over the next month.
bbc.co.uk/music has been transformed with a newly designed and responsive homepage, updated artist pages and more curated music content when signed in. Music fans will get a more personalised experience with recommendations for programmes, clips, tracks and artists based on their own personal preferences.
The new artist pages make it easier for music fans to find tracks and information they want about the artist they love on the BBC. The pages showcase exclusive BBC content, broadcast information on BBC channels and stations, as well as upcoming artist events and gigs via a new partnership with UK based start-up Songkick. Songkick is a live music service which provides concert discovery and comprehensive listings via desktop, iOS and Android apps.
So whether fans want to listen to Paolo Nutini’s latest performance in the Radio 1 Live Lounge or see when One Direction is next playing in the UK, they can access bbc.co.uk/music on their mobile, tablet or desktop to find out.
