Love Monster celebrates inclusive behaviour and collaboration and that’s also very much my philosophy - we find strength, joy and vitality in diversity coming together.
This 54x7’ 2D animated series follows the colourful and funny adventures of lovable hairy hero Love Monster as he searches for the right thing to do in a world in which he is one of a kind.
Showcasing the importance of kindness, empathy, connection and instinct, Love Monster is full of heart and ‘big life’ learnings for little ones. By watching his adventures as he navigates the challenges involved in being a bit funny looking in a world of cute fluffy things, the young audience at home can also learn to cope with different emotions.
Star Trek legend George Takei joins some of the UK’s best actors and voice talent, including Tamsin Greig, Darren Foreman, Sarah Hadland and Javone Prince in the distinguished cast of this warm and charming TV adaptation.
Love Monster lives in Fluffytown, an adorable town packed full of unforgettable characters including the irrepressible Tiniest Fluffiest Bunny (Love Monster’s best friend) Elder Kitten, wise leader of the Council of Cuteness, the endlessly enthusiastic Bad Idea Puppy, and guru and Fro-Yo expert, Book Cub.
Each day brings an exciting new occasion or event such as Sharing With Others Day, Build A Snowman Day or Hot Chocolate Day. Love Monster is always very excited to join in, but often finds that by trying too hard to follow his over-thinky head rather than his heart, things can go wrong… but with a lot of help from his friends and a little serendipity, he discovers how to make things right in the end, and follow his heart while building his inner confidence.
George Takei, who plays Elder Panda, says: "Love Monster celebrates inclusive behaviour and collaboration and that’s also very much my philosophy - we find strength, joy and vitality in diversity coming together."
Tamsin Greig, who plays the Narrator, says: "Love Monster has a wonderful warmth and empathy to it. The series shows that by embracing our differences and helping each other we can make things better for everyone, a particularly valuable lesson for children in today’s world."
Darren Foreman, who plays Love Monster, says: "Love Monster is a fantastically engaging character who has been great fun to play. He may look a little bit odd but his heart is in the right place, and when he’s brave enough to follow it he realises that he can always rely on the help of his friends."
Rachel Bright says: "It’s so exciting to see Love Monster and his friends in Fluffytown come to life on the screen. The series really captures their charm and humour and I love seeing them go on even more colourful and fun adventures."
The distinguished cast includes George Takei (Star Trek, Heroes) as Elder Panda; Tamsin Greig (Friday Night Dinner, Episodes, The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) as Narrator; Javone Prince (The Javone Prince Show, PhoneShop) as Bad Idea Puppy; Sarah Hadland (Miranda, The Job Lot, Bob The Builder) as Tiniest Fluffiest Bunny; Lewis Macleod (Dead Ringers, Newzoids, Postman Pat) as Elder Kitten/Dr G Piggles; Freya Parker (The Mash Report, Lovesick) as In-Chicks/Delivery Duckling; and Emma Maclennan (Maleficent 2: Mistress Of Evil) as Book Cub, while actor, comedian and Beatbox artist Darren Foreman takes the role of Love Monster himself.
Based on the bestselling Love Monster series of books by award-winning British author and illustrator Rachel Bright, published by HarperCollins Children’s Books, Love Monster is exec produced by Tony Reed for the BBC, Chapman Maddox for Boat Rocker Studios and James Chen Gu for UYoung.
The UK share of the animation for the series is produced by Karrot Animation and A Productions, with a proportion of pre-production on scripts, storyboards and design provided by UYoung’s studio in China.

Character descriptions
Love Monster
A monster of few words but many thoughts
Love Monster lives in a world of cute, fluffy things, which makes being a bit funny-looking an interesting challenge. Luckily, he’s one of the most loving and caring monsters you’ll ever meet.
Sometimes a little insecure without Monster Teddy by his side, he’s always searching for the right thing to do (even when he doesn’t really know what that is yet), and often gets so full of feelings that all his words come out at once. With the help of his friends he learns to follow his heart, and not his slightly over-thinky head, a little bit more each day.
He loves jammin’ on his DJ decks and making his friends happy, and when things go well his big, generous heart pulses from blue to pink.
Tiniest Fluffiest Bunny
Love Monster’s best friend
Small and very cute, energetic Tiniest Fluffiest Bunny is always bouncing around Fluffytown, often on her pogo stick. She’s one of the few people Love Monster can confide in about his worries, and they laugh about them together.
When they first met, she found him so fascinating that she just kept turning up at his house like clockwork until they became best friends. Like all friends, they have the occasional fall-out and get upset if they see each other playing with others, but they quickly resolve their spats and get back to being best friends.
Book Cub
Fluffytown’s resident guru
Fluffytown’s wise librarian, she also creates the most amazing frozen yoghurts. She’s as passionate about fro-yo as she is about books and knowledge, and lives in a groovy van that doubles as her library and fro-yo truck.
She always seems to have an answer, even if Love Monster needs to do a bit of work interpreting what it means.
Bad Idea Puppy
A livewire puppy!
Bad Idea Puppy is a good friend of Love Monster and Tiniest Fluffiest Bunny. A bit of a livewire, he can be very unpredictable (possibly down to too many sprinkles), especially when he thinks something is “epic!”
He gets very excited and takes a game that he is playing way too far; he doesn’t pay attention to rules and has zero willpower - all of which is a cause of concern for Love Monster. He is at the opposite end of the spectrum to Love Monster in that he never thinks about anything before he does it - and certainly never thinks about consequences!
Elder Kitten
The oldest and wisest kitten in Fluffytown
Elder Kitten is the leader of the Council of Cuteness and main host of the hottest breakfast radio show in town.
One day a parcel arrived on his doorstep due to a clerical error. The parcel turned out to contain baby Love Monster and Elder Kitten became his adoptive father, raising Love Monster as a Fluffytownian and, with help from a book about monsters, as a monster too.
Completely trustworthy, Elder Kitten is a warm cosy blanket who Love Monster can go to for comfort and who helps him feel safe. Elder Kitten does have an adventurous side and is the best break dancer in Fluffytown.
Elder Panda
The most respected panda in Fluffytown
A wise and elegant member of the Council of Cuteness, Elder Panda lives a serene and tranquil life that Love Monster much admires. Very fond of Love Monster, he supports him and encourages him to be his own unique self.
The In Chicks
The In Chicks are the coolest chicks in Fluffytown
Riding around on their three chick tandem the thrandem, these cute baby chickens are inseparable, finish each other’s sentences. These chic chicks set trends through fashion, sports, games, science and super-cool catchphrases.
Dr. G. Piggles
Fluffytown’s resident doctor
A very cute guinea pig, Dr. G. Piggles is the Fluffytown Doctor and firmly believes laughter is the best medicine. He treats his patients with a tickle stick, a rubber chicken, or a whoopee cushion and the walls of his surgery are adorned with hilarious pictures of silly accidents and embarrassing medical conditions.
Delivery Duckling
She’ll deliver anything!
Brisk and efficient, Delivery Duckling hurtles around Fluffytown on her bike - or trampoline, parachute or zip wire getting letters, parcels and invitations to Fluffytown’s citizens as quickly as possible.
About Fluffytown
Fluffytown is a charming, peaceful, unicorn-and-sprinkles-loving place inhabited by an engaging cast of cute and fluffy characters, including some of Love Monster’s best friends: Tiniest Fluffiest Bunny, Bad Idea Puppy, Book Cub, the In-Chicks and Delivery Duckling.
The Council of Cuteness makes sure the small town runs smoothly (if eccentrically) and its leader is Elder Kitten, who is helped by lots of other Elders, including Elder Panda and Elder Mouse.
In Fluffytown every day brings something special. It could be an exciting challenge such as Paint A Picture Day, Build A Snowman Day or Plant A Seed Day; a celebration of nature like Hot Hot Day or Shooting Star Night; a community spirited event such as Tidy Up Day, Happy To Help Day or Taking Turns Day; or just plain fun, like Perfect Pineapple Party Day, Bouncy Slidey Day, Picnic Night or Super Fun Day.
At the heart of the town is the Green - a pretty, heart-shaped expanse with an amazing Bubble Tree at its centre, softly blowing bubbles into the sky. Here townsfolk love to gather and many of Fluffytown’s special events take place on the Green. Book Cub’s mobile library and fro-yo van is handily placed here too. The big bouncy castle is nearby, and there’s a lovely sandy beach - perfect for sunbathing or stargazing!
Fluffytown’s residents can stock up on sprinkles at the Sprinkles shop, or on everything else at the Everything But Sprinkles shop.
Love Monster lives further back, up the hill, from where he has a good view of the town and his friends’ houses.
