Interview with Hannah Midgley
Interview with Hannah Midgley, who plays Rosie in BBC One drama In The Club.

I was sent for an audition and I was really emotional when I arrived as I'd read all the scripts before I came. I was really nervous as I saw something in Rosie that I could connect with and I understood her.
How did you get the part of Rosie and how does she fit into the story?
I was sent for an audition and I was really emotional when I arrived as I'd read all the scripts before I came. I was really nervous as I saw something in Rosie that I could connect with and I understood her. I also really wanted my next break after leaving Emmerdale.
The other girls waiting had their scripts out but I hadn’t even brought mine as I'd completely learnt it, which made me panic a bit. When I went in, I could feel a lump stuck in my throat, and then I burst into tears. Kay said ‘let’s do this scene’ and I was sobbing the whole way through. I got to the end of the scene and I looked up and Kay was streaming. I thought that even if I don’t get the part, I can be proud of myself as it was a good audition.
It's a special role as there's a lot of Kay in the part…
She told me quite a bit within the first episode as it was nice for me to understand what a 15 year-old would go through when giving birth. She gave me lots of advice, which was really intriguing and intimate. It's so important for me to do it justice for her.
How's it been working with such an esteemed cast?
Amazing - I've loved every minute of it and I've developed a really strong friendship with Katherine. It’s strange as it's mainly been us, Jonathan and Tara and everyone else has been doing their own scenes. They are all so lovely, and really care about what you do. I feel like it's gone so quickly it seems to have just flown by.
