Interview with Marcia Warren
Marcia Warren plays Joy.

There are so many levels, which is why it’s so wonderful. A good, strong story in a comedy is quite rare nowadays.
Tell us about your character.
I play Joy Green, who is Toby Jones’ character Mr Green’s mother. Joy has got a touch of Alzheimer’s though - and as I’ve got twins in the show, it is very difficult for me to tell them apart.
Where do we find Joy?
Joy is living in a very tired bungalow. She’s mad about Barry (Peter’s twin). He’s also played by Toby! He was probably born about two minutes earlier than Peter. He lives in Australia. She calls everybody Barry, I’m afraid.
What can audiences expect from the series?
It’s such a wonderful mixture of comedy and true life. They all say that but it’s very true in this case. There are so many levels, which is why it’s so wonderful. A good, strong story in a comedy is quite rare nowadays. That’s what’s really good - and there are wonderful laughs along the way. It’s fantastic watching Toby act. I wish we could stop learning, I’d like to say that’s it - there’s no more to learn. But when you watch Toby, you learn so much. I adored it.
How was filming in Bognor Regis?
This is the third series I’ve done at the seaside. What do you think about that? It’s a good life. But Peter goes everywhere in the coach! We go to Babbacombe model village! It’s marvellous. They go off to Dunkirk! You can go anywhere in this series with dear old Toby driving the coach. I only get to go to Babbacombe though. I’m really upset - I missed out on the donkey sanctuary completely.
