New and returning CBBC Drama

Maddy Smith seems like an ordinary girl, but when you can hear ultrasound, pick out a scent from a mile away or see in the dark, it can be hard to act “ordinary”. Wolfbloods have lived amongst us for centuries, disguising their abilities and blending in. When new boy Rhydian turns up at school her world gets a lot more complicated. If you think being a teenager is hard enough, try being a Wolfblood teenager!

Wolfblood, created by Debbie Moon, is a brand new CBBC drama series (13 x 30 minutes) made as a co-production between CBBC in house productions and ZDF/ZDFE. Executive producer for CBBC is Gina Cronk and executive producers for ZDF/ZDFE are Nicole Keeb and Arne Lohman.

The Knot

In the heart of the Lancashire Fells, on the edge of the village of Featherbridge, right at the geographical centre of Britain, is The Knot – one hundred and sixty seven hectares of up and down land that has its own fell, wood, beck and cave.

Much to the distrust of many of the locals, the Boulsworths are a foster family offering emergency and short-term care, looking after children on a temporary basis until permanent arrangements can be made – and Rocket and his sister Alli have to share their home and their parents with a regular stream of incomers.

But when 14 year-old Casey Parker and his 11 year-old sister Lena arrive at The Knot, Rocket and Alli find themselves at the centre of a dangerous mystery…

The Knot is a three part drama for CBBC (3x28 minutes), made by Lime Pictures and executive produced by Tony Wood. Executive producer for CBBC is Sue Nott.

Stepping Up

The move from primary to secondary school can be an exciting but sometimes daunting one, and Stepping Up – a brand new drama series for CBBC – focuses on children who are experiencing this transition.

The 5x28 minute stand-alone dramas, which will be penned by five different writers, will be themed around the new challenges children face when moving into this new and sometimes overwhelming environment.

Stepping Up will be made by Liverpool’s LA Productions. Executive producer for LA Productions is Colin McKeown and CBBC executive producer is Sue Nott.

Aliens Vs Wizards

From the dark side of the moon, aliens are scanning the Earth searching for magic and are prepared to destroy everything in their path to get it. All that stands in the way of Earth’s imminent destruction are two 16-year old schoolboys, Tom and Benny. It’s Ray Guns vs Wands; Science vs Magic and Aliens vs Wizards.

Russell T Davies’ is returning to children’s television with this brand new action adventure drama Aliens Vs Wizards, which has been created by Russell and Phil Ford (The Sarah Jane Adventures, Doctor Who) and will be produced by BBC Cymru Wales in association with FremantleMedia Enterprises.

Aliens Vs Wizards (12 x 30mins) will be produced by BBC Cymru Wales for CBBC for broadcast in Autumn 2012. The executive producers are Russell T Davies, Bethan Jones and Gina Cronk for the BBC and Bob Higgins and Sander Schwartz for FME. The producer is Brian Minchin and co-producer Phil Ford.

Young Dracula

CBBC is set to get its teeth into another exciting scary series of Young Dracula – the irreverent, gothic comedy- drama, which takes a fresh look at the bizarre family fortunes of the Draculas one of the most famous literary names in the horror genre.

The fourth series (13x30 minutes), which will be swooping back onto CBBC later this year, promises more family in fighting with the regular favourites but introduces jeopardy and intrigue from new  and unlikely sources.

Filmed around Liverpool, the programme will be produced by Lis Steele and executive produced by Josephine Ward.

The Sparticle Mystery

Science-fiction action adventure series, The Sparticle Mystery, is back on CBBC for a second series in early 2013.

The ground-breaking drama follows a group of children left to fend for themselves when a science experiment goes wrong.  Faced with a world without adults, the children are given total freedom to be themselves and a race begins – some want to restore the world back to how it was before, and others are determined to prevent the adults returning...

The Sparticle Mystery (10x28 minute programmes) is executive produced for CBBC by Sue Nott.  The programme is made by Sparticle Productions, with executive producers Stephen Smallwood, Alison Hume and Jon East.

M.I. High

The kids from the ever-popular M.I. High are back on CBBC for an action-packed, gadget-laden sixth series – due to air early next year with a brand new team of spies in a brand new school battling against a brand new, even more villainous villain.

The staff and pupils of the new school are still oblivious to the same big secret.  Deep beneath the school lies the secret headquarters of M.I. High – an exclusive division of highly-trained teenage spies.

M.I. High (13x30 minute episodes) is made by Kudos, with Executive Producer Alison Jackson. Executive Producer for CBBC is Sue Nott.

Leonardo

The most brilliant mind of the last 500 years is back on CBBC as action-packed drama Leonardo returns for a second series.

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of 15th century Florence, the programme follows the adventures of the teenage Leonardo da Vinci and his group of friends, and is packed full of mystery, adventure and comedy.

Leonardo is a Kindle Entertainment production for CBBC, executive produced by Anne Brogan, Melanie Stokes and Pia Ashberry.  Executive producer for CBBC is Sue Nott.
