Miriam Albano - Italy

  • Mezzo soprano
  • Age 26

Miriam was born into a musical family, and began studying as a violinist with her father at the Conservatory Benedetto Marcello in Venice. At the age of sixteen, she began formal voice training with Stella Silva at the same conservatory. In 2012, Miriam enrolled at the University for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna under Claudia Visca, and is studying art song and oratorio with Charles Spencer and Brigitte Fassbaender.

Miriam is now an ensemble member with the Vienna State Opera, where she made her debut as Annio in Mozart’s La Clemenza Di Tito and this October will make her role debut as Cherubino in Mozart's Le Nozze Di Figaro. She has appeared in performances at the Salzburg Festival, the Ancient Music Festival in Innsbruck, the Galuppi Festival in Venice, the Eppaner Festival in South Tyrol, the Gstaad New Year Music Festival, the Potsdam Sanssouci festival in Germany and the International Lieder Festival Zeist in the Netherlands. She’s no stranger to the competition scene, and has won prizes in the Francisco Viñas International Singing Competition in Barcelona (2016), the Ada Sari International Competition in Poland (2015), and the Neue Stimmen Competition in Germany (2015).

Louise Alder - England

  • Soprano
  • Age 30

Louise was born in London and studied at the University of Edinburgh and Royal College of Music. She’s been a member of the Opera Frankfurt ensemble since 2014, and roles there have included Susanna (Le Nozze Di Figaro), Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare), Gilda (Rigoletto), Musetta (La Bohème), Gretel (Hänsel Und Gretel), Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier) and the title role The Cunning Little Vixen.

Elsewhere Louise has sung Eurydice in Luigi Rossi’s Orpheus (Royal Opera); Ilia, (Idomeneo) at Garsington; Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier) for WNO and Glyndebourne/BBC Proms and Lucia (The Rape Of Lucretia) and Zerlina (Don Giovanni at Glyndebourne). Recent concert highlights include Vaughan Williams’ Symphony No 3; Handel’s Il Delirio Amoroso (Edinburgh Festival); Mozart’s Mass In C Minor (BBC Proms); Poppea in L’Incoronazzione Di Poppea (with the Academy of Ancient Music) and Anne Trulove in The Rake’s Progress (Warsaw Beethoven Festival).

Forthcoming engagements include the title role in Semele and further roles in Frankfurt, Garsington and Glyndebourne and her debut for the Teatro Real in Madrid. Louise is a keen recitalist, and collaborates regularly with pianists Helmut Deutsch, Joseph Middleton, James Baillieu and Gary Matthewman. She won Glyndebourne’s 2014 John Christie Award and the 2015 inaugural British Soloists’ Competition.

Dominic Barberi - England

  • Bass
  • Age 28

Dominic graduated with Distinction in his Performance Masters from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2014, having studied there under Stephen Robertson.

After graduating he worked with Opera North for a year before joining the Berlin Staatsoper International Opera Studio, kindly supported by the Liz Mohn Music Foundation. Roles have included Pietro (Simon Boccanegra) and Barone Douphol (La Traviata) under the baton of Daniel Barenboim and Tom (Un Ballo In Maschera). Highlights of the 2016-17 season include the role of Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte) and Colline (La Bohème).

Dominic has appeared throughout the United Kingdom as a guest soloist in works including Handel’s Messiah, Tippet’s A Child Of Our Time, Haydn’s Creation, Mozart’s Requiem, Dvořák’s Stabat Mater and Mendelssohn’s Elijah. In 2017-18 amongst other projects, he’s particularly looking forward to singing in a new composition: Luther Oratorio by Daniel Pacitti in the Berlin Philarmonie, and undertaking the role of Alvise Badoero in La Gioconda at the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck.

Batjargal Bayarsaikhan - Mongolia

  • Age 27

Batjargal was born in Ulanbator and studied singing at the Mongolian State University of Arts and Culture.

Since 2012, he has been a principal soloist of the State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet of Mongolia. He successfully performed as Jose (Carmen) when he was 23 at the State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet of Mongolia. Other roles he’s performed are Manrico (Il Trovatore); Alfredo (La Traviata); Edgardo (Lucia Di Lammermoor), Vladimir Igorevich (Prince Igor) and Jamukh (Chinggis Khaan - a Mongolian opera by Sharav).

Batjargal has also performed at a Gala Concert at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Russia in 2014 and at various gala concerts in Japan, Korea, Russia, Austria and France.

In the future he’ll be performing Pinkerton (Madame Butterfly) and Rodolfo (La Boheme). He has received several awards at international competitions including the Grand Prix at the K. Bazarsadaev fifth International Vocalist Contest in 2015, third prize at the Baikal Opera International Competition 2015, first prize at the Sharav Byambasuren International Competition of Music and Vocal in 2016 and third prize at the Muslim Magomaev International Vocalist Contest in 2016.

John Chest - USA

  • Baritone
  • Age 31

John is a graduate of the Opera Studio at Bayerische Staatsoper where I sang over 80 performances. He has held apprenticeships with the Santa Fe Opera and the Chicago Opera Theater, and took part in the prestigious Merola Opera Programme.

In 2010 John won the Stella Maris International Vocal Competition and the Arleen Auger prize in 2012. He was a member of the ensemble at Deutsche Oper Berlin until 2016 where roles included the title of Billy Budd in a new production by David Alden; Valentin (Faust), Ford (Falstaff), Silvio (Pagliacci), Figaro (Il Barbière Di Siviglia), Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Gugliemo (Cosi Fan Tutte) and Il Conte Almaviva (Le Nozze Di Figaro).

Recent engagements elsewhere include Albert (Werther - Théâtre des Champs-Elysées) Nick Carraway (The Great Gatsby - Staatsoper Dresden), Don Giovanni (Nantes Opera), Marcello (La Bohème - Washington National Opera) Fritz (Die Tote Stadt - Nantes and Nancy) plus Nardo (La Finta Giardiniera) and Demetrius (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) both Aix-en-Provence, Eddie in Greek, Ned Keene (Peter Grimes). John is equally passionate about art song and will return to the Wigmore Hall this season following a successful debut recital in 2013.

Highlights of the 2016-7 season include the Conte (Le Nozze Di Figaro) with Opera Philadelphia, Nick Carraway (Dresden) and a return to the role of Billy Budd in Berlin. Future performances include major roles at Glyndebourne, Teatro Real Madrid, Teatro Municipal Santiago and the Bayerische Staatsoper Munich.

Sioned Gwen Davies - Wales

  • Mezzo soprano
  • Age 30

Sioned studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and completed her training at the National Opera Studio in London.

Sioned made her professional debut with Glyndebourne Festival Opera as part of the Jerwood Project in 2012, where she performed the role of Margarida (The Yellow Sofa). She returned to the festival in 2014 to understudy the roles of Olga (Eugene Onegin) and Annina (La Traviata).

Sioned performed the role of Kate (The Pirates Of Penzance) for Scottish Opera in 2013 and was subsequently offered an emerging artist contract with the company for the 2013/14 season where her roles included Eduige (Rodelinda) and Third Witch (Macbeth). Since then she has performed an Opera Highlights tour of Scotland, Third Dryad (Rusalka) and Pitti-Sing (The Mikado) all with Scottish Opera.

Recent engagements include her Spanish debut as Olga (Eugene Onegin) for Valladolid Opera and she’ll be returning to Scottish Opera in 2018. After BBC Cardiff Singer of the World she’ll begin rehearsals with Longborough Festival Opera as Second Lady (Die Zauberflote).

Anthony Clark Evans - USA

  • Baritone
  • Age 32

Anthony recently completed a three year tenure at Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Ryan Opera Center, where he made his debut as Montano (Otello). He was Yamadori (and Sharpless cover) (Madama Butterfly), the Jailer (and Sacristan cover) (Tosca), the Servant (and cover for the Count) (Capriccio), the Hunter (and Gamekeeper cover) (Rusalka), Commissario (Baron and Marquis cover) (La Traviata) and covered in Don Giovanni, Wolfram in Tannhäuser and Fiorello in Il Barbière di Siviglia.

He makes his debut in the 2016/17 season as Sharpless (Madama Butterfly) with San Francisco Opera. And later will make his Metropolitan Opera debut as the Huntsman (Rusalka) while covering Riccardo (I Puritani). The previous season he made debuts with San Diego Opera as Sharpless and as Marcello with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis. At Lyric Opera, Chicago Anthony created the role of Simon Thibault in the world premiere of Bel Canto, an adaptation of Ann Pratchett’s bestselling novel by composer Jimmy Lopez and Pulitzer prize-winning playwright, Nilo Cruz.

Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar - Mongolia

  • Age 29

Ariunbaatar is a graduate of the Mongolian State University of Culture and Art. In 2011, Ariunbaatar won the 24th Glinka International Vocal Contest in Moscow with a prize as best baritone in the competition and the special Pavel Lisitsian Prize. In 2011, Ariunbaatar became the honored artist of Mongolia which was given by the President of Mongolia.

In 2014, he won first prize in the third Muslim Magomaev International Vocalists Competition in Moscow. Since then he’s been a soloist for the Buryat State Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Ulan-Ude, Russia.

In 2015, Ariunbaatar won the first prize (Gold Medal) and the Grand Prix at the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition. And also in 2015, right after the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition, Ariunbaatar was invited to perform at the Carnegie Hall in New York.

In 2015, Ariunbaatar performed at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Russia and at the Cadogan Hall in London, United Kingdom and the same year, he performed Yeletsky’s Aria from Tchaikovsky’s Queen Of Spades at Buckingham Palace.

In 2016, he performed the role of Escamillo (Carmen) and Baron Scarpia (Tosca) at the Marinsky Theatre in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. Ariunbaatar also performed in Yerevan, Armenia for the 60th General Assembly of the World Federation of International Music Competitions.

Anush Hovhannisyan - Armenia

  • Soprano
  • Age 30

Anush studied singing at the Yerevan State Conservatory and at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. At the 2016 Stella Maris Competition she was winner of the First and Public Prizes, as well as a Deutsche Grammophon test recording contract. She also gained the Prize from the New Year Music Festival in Gstaad at the 2016 Concours International de Belcanto Vincenzo Bellini, and of the 2014 Concours Suisse Ernst Haefliger Competition. A Samling Artist, she was also a member of the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, which afforded her the opportunity to work with major conductors including Semyon Bychkov, Gianluigi Gelmetti, Nicola Luisotti, Daniel Oren, Mark Wigglesworth, Esa-Pekka Salonen and Antonio Pappano.

Anush’s past engagements have included the title role in Maria Stuarda at the Stadttheater Klagenfurt, Sitâ (Le Roi De Lahore) for Chelsea Opera Group, Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) at the Teatro Verdi, Trieste, and Anitra (Peer Gynt) with the Philharmonia Orchestra. Her recordings include songs by Glinka for Vivat and songs by Scriabin for Decca.

Barnokhon Ismatullaeva - Uzbekistan

  • Soprano
  • Age 25

Barno was born in the Makhamat district of Andizhan in the Republic of Uzbekistan in 1991. She graduated from music school playing piano and finished her Master’s degree from the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan in 2015. She won the nationwide Nikhol Prize of Uzbekistan for young performers in 2010. In 2012 Barnokhon won the first prize and a diploma for the best performance of Ave Maria in the international competition of vocalists in Moscow 2012. She was also a soloist at the Bolshoi Theatre in Navoi in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Between 2014 and 2016 Barnokhon sang at the Krasnoyarsk International Music Festival of the Asia-Pacific region, won first prize at the Competizione dell’opera Tashkent and was invited to sing solo at the Mariinsky Theatre in Vladivostok. Since 2016 she’s been a soloist in the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Music Theatre.

Barnokhon has collaborated with leading orchestras of the Republic of Uzbekistan and around the world, singing in Verdi’s Requiem, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Strauss’ 4 Last Songs and Shostakovich’s 14th Symphony. Opera roles include Mimi, Musetta (La Boheme), Nedda (I Pagliacci), Violetta (La Traviata), Leonora (Il Trovatore), Tatiana (Eugene Onegin), Lisa (The Queen Of Spades) and the title roles of Madame Butterfly, Turandot, Iolanta, and Jenufa.

Lilly Jørstad - Norway

  • Mezzo soprano
  • Age 31

Lilly is a Norwegian-Russian mezzo-soprano, born in Astrakhan, Russia, who started singing at the age of four. She moved with her family to Norway when she was a teenager and finished her Master’s degree at Trømso University in 2012. That same summer she made her debut as Marchesa Melibea (Il Viaggio A Reims) with the Academia Rossiniana in Pesaro and appeared as a soloist at the Mariinsky Academy in St Petersburg. In 2015 she joined the Academy La Scala in Milan and made her debut singing Rosina (Il Barbiere Di Siviglia) at La Scala.

Lilly has won several awards and prizes in international competitions including first prize in the Concorso Internazionale di Portofino. Among her recent and future engagements are Rosina at the Teatro Argentina in Rome, in Bergen and at the Vienna Staatsoper, Angelina (Cenerentola) at La Scala, Siebel (Faust) at the Opernhaus, Zürich, Meg in a new production of Falstaff in Vienna, and Smeton (Anna Bolena) at Teatro Nacional in Lisbon. In May 2016 she made her debut in the 80th Maggio Fiorentino Festival.

During the summer of 2017 Lilly is touring with Zubin Mehta singing in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. Also in Cenerentola (Stuttgart) and in Il Barbiere Di Siviglia (Bavarian State Opera).

Ezgi Karakaya - Turkey

  • Age 28

Ezgi studied opera at Anadolu University State Conservatory in 2005 and took part in many concerts and projects while she was there. In 2010 she graduated with first class honours. That same year, she started to work for Turkish State Opera and Ballet in Ankara where she worked with Zuhal Gurgen and Ferda Yetiser and she’s still singing with Ankara State Opera house.

Roles include Clarina (La Cambiale Di Matrimonio), Giannetta (L’Elisir D’Amore), Volpino (Lo Speziale) Giovanna (Rigoletto) Prince Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus), Suzuki (Madama Butterfly), Mercedes (Carmen) Enrichetta di Francia (I Puritani), Czipra (Der Ziguenerbaron) Flora (La Traviata) Metella (La Vie Parisienne,) and Geneviève (Pellèas Et Mèlisande).

Ezgi has also performed in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Mozart’s Requiem and Mahler’s 2nd Symphony.

In 2016 she won first prize in 9th National Young Soloist Competition professional category which is organised in Izmir and received a special prize from one of the members of the jury – stage director Eija Tolpo offered her the chance to join a master class in Savonlinna Music Academy and to study with Professor Konrad Jarnot, with whom she continues to study.

Nadezhda Karyazina - Russia

  • Mezzo soprano
  • Age 30

Nadezhda was born in Moscow and studied at the Russian Academy of Theatrical Arts in Moscow, majoring in musical theatre. After graduating she began her studies at the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centre and then in the Young Artist Programme of the Bolshoi Theater.

In 2012, she made her debut with Opera di Roma and the Latvian National Theatre. In the same year she won second prize at the International Singing Competition in Savonlinna and third prize in the Operalia competition. This led to a personal invitation from Placido Domingo to sing in concerts in Beijing and Hungary, and to perform alongside him and Jose Carreras in the Christmas in Moscow Concert. For the role of Charlotte in Werther she was awarded the Österreichische Musiktheaterpreis in the section Best Young Artist 2014.

From 2013-2015 Nadezhda was a member of the Royal Opera’s Jette Parker Young Artists Programme. During this time her roles included Maddalena (Rigoletto), Mercedes (Carmen) and Rosette (Manon) amongst others. In 2015 she joined the Ensemble at the Hamburg State Opera where her roles include Rosina, Cherubino, Olga and Suzuki. In February she made her debut at the Festival Opera New Zealand as Carmen.

Konstantin Lee - South Korea

  • Tenor
  • Age 28

Konstantin first started singing in a children’s choir at the age of seven. He earned both his undergraduate and Master’s degrees from Seoul National University, College of Music. He has won many awards including first places in the Korea Voice Competition, the Neue Stimmen Singing Competition and SWR Junge Opera Stars in Germany, as well as the Luis Sigall Competition in Chile.

His operatic debut was in La Traviata as Alfredo at the Seoul Arts Center Opera House. Since then Konstantin has performed as Rodolfo in La Bohème and as Nemorino in L’Elisir D’Amore. In addition, he has toured as a soloist with the major orchestras of Korea, China, Japan and Chile. Recently he made his successful European debut in the role of Ferrando in Cosi Fan Tutte at Theater Freiburg.

He is currently preparing for the Konzert exam at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg and is expected to graduate this summer.

Roberto Lorenzi - Italy

  • Bass baritone
  • Age 27

Roberto is a graduate of the Luigi Boccherini Institute of Musical Studies in Lucca, Italy and made his La Scala debut aged 22 in Zeffirelli’s acclaimed production of La Bohème, alongside an all-star cast including Anna Netrebko and Angela Gheorghiu. He now studies with the famous American singing teacher, Sherman Lowe.

In 2013 Roberto took part in the Salzburg Festival Young Singers project and subsequently joined Opernhaus Zürich where he’s currently a member of the ensemble. His roles in Zürich include Lorenzo, (I Capuleti E I Montecchi), La Vengeance, (Medée), Montano, (Otello) and Caronte, (Orlando Paladino).

Last season he made his debut at the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam as Priore. In Zürich he was Don Prudenzio in a new production of Viaggio a Reims, Le Gouverneur in Le Comte Ory alongside Cecilia Bartoli; Zuniga in Carmen and Publio in La Clemenza Di Tito. This season he made his debut with Opéra de Lille as Alidoro in La Cenerentola.

Roberto won first prize in the AsLico competition for young singers in Europe, winning the role of Don Basilio in Il Barbiere Di Siviglia in a special production in Lombardy.

Catriona Morison - Scotland

  • Mezzo soprano
  • Age 31

Catriona was born in Edinburgh into a musical family and learned to play violin and viola before turning to singing. She studied at Berlin University of the Arts and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, graduating with Distinction. Catriona won the Toonkunst Oratorio Prize at the 50th Hertogenbosch competition in Holland, and was a finalist at the Hilde Zadek Voice Competition in Vienna.

Catriona is a Samling Artist and was a member of the Salzburg Festival’s Young Singers Project and the Thuringian Opera Studio. She debuted with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra in 2014, and performed at the BBC Proms 2013, and at the Salzburg Easter Festival 2015. She has sung under distinguished conductors including Franz Welser-Möst, Christoph Altstaedt, David Parry and Jos van Immerseel.

She is an ensemble member of Wuppertal Opera, where her roles this season include Nicklausse (Les Contes D’Hoffmann), Clarice (The Love For Three Oranges), and Maddalena (Rigoletto). Previous engagements include Annina (Der Rosenkavalier) at the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar, Pisandro (Il Ritorno D’Ulisse In Patria) for Theater Erfurt, Jacob in Leonard Evers’ fairy-tale opera GOLD! for Theater Nordhausen, and staged versions of Mozart’s Requiem for Theater Hof in Bavaria and Handel’s Alexander’s Feast for the Lithuanian National Opera.

Silvester Lukhanyo Moyake - South Africa

  • Tenor
  • Age 30

Lukhanyo is currently working at the Cape Town Opera Company, South Africa. He has been performing at this opera house since his graduation in 2010, stepping into a multitude of roles including Alfredo (La Traviata), Jaquino (Fidelio), Belmote (Die Entführung Aus Dem Serail), Leicester (Maria Stuarda), and Camille de Rosillon (The Merry Widow).

With the Cape Town Opera production of Porgy And Bess, Lukhanyo spent the 2014/15 season touring in Spain, singing the part of Sportin’ Life at both the Teatro Real de Madrid and the Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona.

In the summer of 2015 and 2016 he made it to the finals of the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition, held in Amsterdam. He also won third prize in the Neue Stimmen International Singing Competition, held in Germany.

Alongside his career in opera, he performs regularly in concerts, performing Lieder and oratorios. In 2016 he won the Emmerich Smola Forderpreis in Landau Germany. He recently sang the role of Naraboth in Salome, Don Jose in Carmen and is currently working on the role of the Duke in Rigoletto.

Iurii Samoilov - Ukraine

  • Baritone
  • Age 28

Iurii is from Ukraine and received his Master’s degree from the National Music Academy with honours, studying with Roman Mayboroda. He was also a guest student at the Dutch National Opera Academy and a member of the Opera Studio Nederland in Amsterdam. He has taken part in numerous academies and projects such as the Solti Te Kanawa Academy and Accademia Rossiniana (Pesaro), Mozart Academy (Aix-en-Provence) and the Young Singers Project (Salzburg).

Festivals and theatres which Iurii has performed at include Teatro Real Madrid, Bolshoi Theater Moscow, Dutch National Opera, Theater Basel, Salzburg Festival, Rossini Opera Festival, Operadagen Festival Rotterdam, Vilnius City Opera, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Royal Albert Hall and Frankfurt Alte Oper.

He’s an ensemble member at Frankfurt Opera where he debuted as Marcello (La Boheme), Dandini (Cenerentola), the title role in Don Giovanni, Conte (Le Nozze Di Figaro), Enrico (Lucia Di Lammermoor) and the title role in Eugene Onegin, amongst others.

This coming season he will sing Guglielmo (Cosi Fan Tutte) and Ned Keene (Peter Grimes) in Frankfurt and will return to the Bolshoi Theater Moscow in the title role of Billy Budd.

Ivan Thirion - Belgium

  • Baritone
  • Age 27

Ivan was born in Belgium and studied at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels and then the Geneva University of Music.

He made his operatic debut on the stage of Opéra Royal de Wallonie singing Papageno in Mozart‘s Die Zauberflöte. After that he joined the National Centre for Opera Singers in Marseille and sang in numerous French theatres like Montpellier as Figaro in Le Nozze Di Figaro and Avignon as Franck in Die Fledermaus

He’s an active concert singer and recitalist, enjoying singing Lied and artsong. In 2013 he was awarded the Wil Keune prize for a young singer with real potential at the 32nd Belvedere Competition in Amsterdam. Ivan won the second prize at the St Petersburg Opera Competition.

For 2014-16, he was a member of the International opera studio of the Zurich opera, where he sang roles such as Ping (Turandot), Bello (La Fanciulla Del West), Lakai (Ariadne Auf Naxos) Rodomonte in Haydn’s Orlando Paladino.

His most recent and upcoming guest performances include the role of Lord Enrico Ashton in Donizetti's Lucia Di Lammermoor at Opéra de Liège, Bartolo in Der Barbier Von Sevilla Für Kinder at the Salzburg Festival, a tour with the YSP of the Salzburg Festival to China, Serviteur and Aubergiste in Prokofieff’s L’Ange Du Feu at Opéra de Lyon, Belcore at the Essen Opera and Oronte in Charpentier’s Médée at the Zurich opera with William Christie.

Kang Wang - Australia

  • Tenor
  • Age 29

Kang is the son of professional opera singers originally from Harbin, China and gained his international Artist Diploma in Opera at Royal Northern College of Music, completing his Master of Music Studies at Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University in Australia. He is currently in his second year of the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program.

Last season Kang sang the role of Elvino in the MET and Juilliard co-production of Bellini’s La Sonnambula. He made his house debut in the 2016/17 season as Narraboth in Salome at the Met.

He was previously a member of the opera studio OperAvenir at Theater Basel in Switzerland in the 2014/15 season, and performed Male Chorus (The Rape Of Lucretia). He sang Romeo (Romeo And Juliette) at IVAI Montreal in 2016, Don José (La Tragédie De Carmen) at IVAI Virginia in 2014, and sang Nemorino (L’Elisir D’Amore) at the Royal Northern College of Music. At the Queensland Conservatorium he sang Rinuccio (Gianni Schicchi) and Tom Rakewell in The Rake's Progress.

Kang was second in the Dallas Opera Guild 2016 Vocal Competition and won the People’s Choice Award. He also won the People’s Choice Award in the Dame Joan Sutherland National Vocal Award and won the Clonter Opera Prize in the UK in 2014.

Forthcoming engagements include roles with the Metropolitan Opera, Lensky (Eugene Onegin) with Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Alfredo (La Traviata) with WNO and Rodolfo (La Boheme) with Austin Opera, Texas.
