This autumn the BBC is releasing a raft of new and returning podcasts, featuring new voices and well-known names, which will be available to listen to, subscribe and download on BBC Sounds. From gripping investigative journalism to quirky comedy; from dramatic storytelling to pop culture; from unfiltered conversations to frank facts these new series will bring listeners the best in entertaining, experimental and highly creative podcasts.

Award-winning comedian Russell Kane returns with the second series of his BBC podcast, Evil Genius.

Each week Russell is joined by a panel of friends including Alan Carr, Lou Sanders, James Acaster, Desiree Burch and Romesh Ranganathan to delve into the darker, lesser-known sides of some of the world’s great cultural icons, weighing up the good against the bad to decide whether they were ‘Evil’ or ‘Genius’.

Tailenders takes a sideways look at the game, mixing humour, music, puns, stories and general mischievousness. And now, the unruly threesome are taking the hit podcast live for the first time.

This December Greg, Jimmy and Felix will record an instalment of Tailenders live at the BBC Radio Theatre. Expect a variety of well-known guests, cricket-themed chat, lots of singing and some mild mayhem.

BBC Radio 5 Live presenter Rachael Bland died in early September from breast cancer after sharing her experience of living with cancer on her chart-topping podcast, You, Me, And The Big C.

Now, just as she wanted them to, Rachael’s co-presenters Deborah James and Lauren Mahon are honouring their friend in the best way they know how - continuing the conversation about cancer with a new podcast series.

You, Me, And The Big C was crowned Best New Show/Podcast at the Audio and Radio Industry Awards (ARIAs) earlier this month, which Rachael’s husband, Steve accepted on her behalf. It was also named best podcast the Northern Blog Awards at the end of September.

The new series returns later this year to talk about life after Rachael, the profound impact she had on the world, and the next chapter for those still living with cancer.

Classical Fix

Returning for a second series is BBC Radio 3’s podcast Classical Fix designed for music fans who are curious about classical music and want to give it a go.

In each episode, broadcaster and writer Clemency Burton-Hill curates a bespoke playlist of tracks for her guest, who will then join her to discuss their impressions of their brand new classical music discoveries.

The second series will feature guests such as writers Dolly Alderton and Elizabeth Day; Shingai Shoniwa, the vocalist and bassist for indie band Noisettes; Rohan Silva, co-founder of Second Home; and singer-songwriter Marika Hackman.
