The twice-monthly programme, Qadin baxışı (Women’s View) will focus on issues that are of special relevance to female audiences. Presenter Ilkin Hasanov (pictured, with his first guest) will engage the viewers in a conversation about the issues they are facing, their concerns as well as their inspirations. Ilkin won’t let taboo subjects hold back the discourse.

The BBC News Azerbaijani weekly news review, presented by Aygul Mehman in a distinct, lighthearted style, will bring top regional and global developments and take a look at the week’s topical talking points.

The two new programmes add to the BBC News Azerbaijani digital video offer which has already passed the watch time of 26 million minutes on YouTube. It includes the popular weekly shows launched in early 2019 – the political debate programme, Sual vaxti (Question Time), and the political analytical review Cümə günü (Friday). Vusal Hamzayev’s weekly programme Sənin orada nə işin var? (What Are You Doing There?) engages with Azerbaijanis around the world while Qoy, mən danışım (Let Me Speak), produced by the BBC’s Baku correspondent Gunel Safarova, has a special appeal with younger audiences.

BBC News Azerbaijani Editor Konul Khalilova says: “Our video content is followed by hundreds of thousands users who engage in discussions and leave their comments. With these two new programmes, our small team wants to further expand and reinforce the BBC’s engagement with Azerbaijani-speakers, wherever they are.”

BBC Azerbaijani is part of BBC World Service. In addition to the website bbc.com/azeri and YouTube, BBC Azerbaijani connects with its social-media audiences on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
