BBC collects 16 Baftas

At tonight’s Bafta television awards BBC programmes won 16 of a possible 26 awards (excluding the Special Award and Bafta Fellowship).

Demonstrating the strength and range of BBC programmes, there were wins in factual, drama, entertainment, comedy, soap, sport, and live events categories. BBC factual programmes won six of the categories they were nominated in and all four of the BBC’s channels won awards.

Charlotte Moore, BBC Director of Content, says: “It was a fantastic evening for BBC shows, and I’d like to congratulate all the winners. Tonight’s awards show that the BBC is on top form creatively and can draw on the best talent in so many genres. I’m proud that so many wonderfully talented individuals in front of and behind the camera choose to make their programmes with us.”
