Published: 26 June 2018

This is a rare opportunity for Pobol y Cwm fans to step inside the Deri, have a look around the shop, the cafe and the people’s houses.
Tickets have been released online giving people a special opportunity to visit Cwmderi, the fictional village filmed at BBC Studio Wales’ centre in Cardiff Bay. As well as taking a peek inside the Deri, the village pub, and other iconic sets at the drama studios, the tours will visit the well-known main street, offering guests a behind-the-scenes look.
Pobol y Cwm is the BBC’s longest-running television soap opera. It was first broadcast in October 1974 and the studio is usually closed to the public, as the popular series is produced throughout the year.
Shelley Rees (Stacey) and Rhydian Bowen Phillips (Dewi) - two former actors from the soap opera - will return to Cwmderi to lead the tours and there will be an opportunity for the public to ask questions as they take in the sights around the studio.
The series has nurtured the talent of some of Wales's biggest stars - including Hollywood actor Ioan Gruffydd, West End and television star, Iwan Rheon and film and television star, Alexandra Roach - who all honed their craft on Pobol y Cwm.
Tickets are available online now and the tours will be held Saturday, August 4 and then daily, Monday to Friday, August 6-10.
Series Producer Llyr Morus says: “This is a rare opportunity for Pobol y Cwm fans to step inside the Deri, have a look around the shop, the cafe and the people’s houses. The studio is a stone’s throw away from the Eisteddfod in Cardiff Bay and we look forward to welcoming people across Wales - and from around the world - to Cwmderi. Remember to book your tickets now to secure your place.”

It coincides with some very exciting storylines for a number of prominent characters in the soap and I’m sure that visitors will enjoy following in the footsteps of the characters and seeing the exact locations where the banter and bickering, and the laughter and tears take place."
