BBC One launches a brand new daytime series following people who want to realise their dream to Get Away For Winter by renting a piece of paradise abroad.

This isn’t a property investment show, it’s about following people looking for adventure and getting the most out of life.
From Goa and Florida to Ibiza and Lanzarote, Get Away For Winter follows couples, friends and families as they work out how to spend the winter in the sunshine for the same money as it costs to live at home. By swapping sleet and snow for sand and heat these sun seekers are looking to change their lives by renting a piece of paradise abroad. These are not people just looking for a holiday house, they’re looking to make a life changing seasonal move to a different way of living. The series is narrated by Gloria Hunniford.
This 15-part series shows it is possible to pack up your life and try a new exotic way of living by escaping the worst of the UK’s winter weather and finding a dream bolthole for the season on a range of budgets.
Get Away for Winter follows people trying every which way to generate enough money to fund their winter escape by renting out their UK homes, working abroad, taking advantage of working online, or doing jobs that only require them to be in the UK occasionally.
On hand to help the winter wanderers is a local property expert who will help them seek out the best rental properties for their budget and give them the inside track on how to find that finca in the Majorcan countryside or that villa on the beach in Cyprus.
Dan McGolpin, Controller BBC Daytime says: “This is a fun new format for BBC One daytime that could cause many people to reassess how they live their lives. People often spend a small fortune on a short summer holiday but in winter many people find that it’s cost-neutral or in some cases that they can even save money to escape to sunnier climes. This isn’t a property investment show, it’s about following people looking for adventure and getting the most out of life.”
Narrator Gloria Hunniford says: “I love the idea that anyone can get away from our horrible winter weather and spend weeks or months of the year abroad. I know the benefits of being in the sunshine so spending part of the winter in a warmer climate really can have a positive impact on so many people’s lives and their health. What I love about this series is that it has so many different elements to it. There are the stories of the people we’re following, snooping around some amazing properties abroad and the fact that it really gets you thinking ‘is this something I could do?’.”
Get Away For Winter is produced by Friel Kean Films for BBC One, the Executive Producers are Michelle Friel and Jules Kean.
Get Away For Winter is a 15-part series and will broadcast weekdays at 3.45pm on BBC One from Monday 12 February.
