Duke Special returns with his Gramophone Club

Duke Special returns with a new series of his Gramophone Club on BBC Radio Ulster, beginning on Sunday 23 September at 6.30pm.

Published: 17 September 2018

Over the course of six weeks the singer-songwriter meets fellow music lovers with a passion for sound, from crackly old 78 discs to fabulous 45s.

Recorded in front of an audience at the Accidental Theatre in Belfast, joining Duke across the series will be Chip Bailey, percussionist extraordinaire who can make amazing sounds form the most unlikely objects, including bedpans, cheese graters and whisks, and Donal O’Connor, virtuoso fiddle player with Ulaid.

Also included in the series line-up will be critically acclaimed singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Hannah Peel (pictured above), and all the way from Brooklyn, New York, Thomas Truax, who has invented his own instrument he calls the ‘Hornecator’ (below).
