The new, substantial package of forty animations have been designed to encourage children to use and speak every-day Welsh. Featuring a number of characters, designed with the help of children aged between three and seven years old, the short animations reflect every-day situations bringing the language alive through lively chat and conversation.

Nia M Davies, Head of Learning, BBC Wales said: “It’s always fun to work with our younger audiences to develop productions. Children from across Wales, aged between three and seven years old, gave honest feedback and we had to change the designs a few times along the way, in line with their views. It’s a really important step in the production process as it ensures the content is relevant to the audience.”

Children from all over Wales were also invited to voice the numerous characters contributing naturally to one of the curriculum’s requirements of listening to natural speech and varied accents. The resource aims to lay solid foundations and confidence in children and their parents to use Welsh at home and in lessons.

Nia added: “The new digital resources support the curriculum in Wales and we also hope the animations packages will enable parents to learn side by side with their children.

“The contributions of children, teachers and education advisors throughout the production period were invaluable and we’re very grateful to them.”
