Jo Street appointed to Commissioning Editor, Entertainment and Daytime for the BBC
Kate Phillips, Controller, Entertainment Commissioning, and Dan McGolpin, Controller, Programming and Daytime, today announced the appointment of Jo Street to the newly created role of Commissioning Editor, Entertainment and Daytime, a combined role spanning development and commissioning for both teams, based in Scotland.

As an experienced developer, producer and commissioner with a passion for programming, I know Jo will excel in the post
Entertainment and Daytime recently worked together on the BBC Two early-peak quiz Letterbox with Mel Giedroyc, and have created the new cross-over role to simplify the commissioning process for many suppliers and to develop stronger links between commissioning teams.
Jo Street has produced, directed, executive produced and commissioned shows across all genres, from Countryfile to Weakest Link, and has worked with some of the industry's best talent both on screen and behind the camera.
Her current slate covers a range of network programmes including everyone’s guilty pleasure Homes Under The Hammer, Antiques Road Trip, Eggheads, Money For Nothing, Wild UK, and the new quizzes Impossible and Letterbox.
Jo is based in Glasgow where she is a passionate advocate for Out Of London network production. She will be supported by the creation of a new Assistant Commissioner role, also based in Glasgow, as part of the BBC Content Commissioner Development programme.
Kate Phillips says: “Jo has a unique set of skills - not only within Entertainment and Daytime but in other genres too. As an experienced developer, producer and commissioner with a passion for programming, I know she will excel in the post and make it her own.”
Dan McGolpin said: “Jo is the perfect appointment for this exciting new role based in Glasgow. She will continue her wonderful work with the creative community in Scotland and around the UK, now with a broader remit that will promote further collaboration between our Entertainment and Daytime commissioning teams.”
Jo Street said: "It’s a great opportunity to build on the success I’ve had with Daytime and expand and grow Entertainment commissions in Scotland too. I work with some fantastic producers and I can’t wait to get stuck into the serious business of finding some brilliantly entertaining new shows."
Jo takes up her new role on 1 August 2017.
