Starting on November 8 on BBC One Wales, Wales Live will get under the skin of politics, challenge those in power, offer analysis and scrutiny and hear what people really think about the policies, the promises and the powerful.

Jason Mohammad and Bethan Rhys Roberts are two of Wales’ most experienced journalists and presenters.

Jason Mohammad, originally from Ely in Cardiff regularly debates extraordinary stories and topical issues on BBC Radio Wales’ phone-in chatting to the audience and challenging political leaders. He’s a familiar face across the UK as a BBC Sport presenter.

Bethan Rhys Roberts, originally from Bangor, has fronted BBC Wales’ election coverage for many years. She’s put politicians on the spot in live audience debate shows. Tough and approachable she knows Wales inside out and is the main presenter of Newyddion 9 on S4C.

They will be joined by a team of journalists who will tackle the big questions. What will the consequences of Brexit be? How should local councils respond to shrinking budgets? Are our schools getting a fair deal?

The team will also bring stories to life from across Wales. What is it like to live with cancer? What is fake news and why do we fall for it? How soon should women go back to work after giving birth or adopting? With well-told stories to make you sit up Wales Live will look for answers and make you think.

Delyth Isaac, Editor of Wales Live, says: “Above all Wales Live is about getting the best stories, the ones that stop you in your tracks. Jason and Bethan are a winning combination of warmth and experience with a track record in hard-hitting journalism and interviewing. There couldn’t be a more exciting time for BBC Wales to launch a brand new, live, weekly show to discuss what’s happening in Wales and how it fits into a changing world. ”

Wales Live launches on Wednesday 8 November at 10.30pm on BBC One Wales. It will be live immediately after the Ten o’clock news and will include the news headlines in Wales.

The series is part of a major expansion announced earlier this year of BBC Wales’s political and current affairs programming.
