It’s such an honour to be joining a programme that I’ve grown up listening to. It has been one long journey getting here but at the same time it feels like I’m living in the fast lane.

Having only joined the station two years ago from community radio station Fever FM in Leeds, the rising young star has quickly climbed the ranks to become the host of the popular music entertainment Breakfast Show on Asian Network.

Harpz has been presenting the weekend breakfast show for the station and will be bringing her fresh energy to weekdays, along with her extensive knowledge of music.

Hailing from Huddersfield, Harpz grew up in a Sikh Punjabi family and was a finalist at the Asian Media Awards in 2014.

Harpz Kaur says: “It’s such an honour to be joining a programme that I’ve grown up listening to. It has been one long journey getting here but at the same time it feels like I’m living in the fast lane. To know I’ll be the soundtrack to our listeners’ breakfast is surreal but equally exciting.”

Mark Strippel, Head of Programmes for BBC Asian Network says: “Harpz has been fantastic since joining Asian Network from community radio just two years ago and we are proud to name her as the new host of Britain’s biggest Asian breakfast show. Her incredibly warm and fun personality is the perfect fit for the Breakfast Show, and we look forward to watching Harpz grow on this journey with the Asian Network team.”

An announcement about Asian Network weekend breakfast will be made in coming weeks.
