BBC national digital radio transmitter network expands
The BBC has launched another national transmitter which has increased BBC National DAB coverage to nearly 98% of UK homes.

This expansion has brought the BBC’s digital radio services to areas of the British Isles previously without access to digital radio via DAB
This phase of the roll out has seen an additional 163 sites across the UK deliver the BBC’s national radio services, including those services only available digitally.
It has added over 400,000 households (approximately 900,000 people) to the network and provided coverage on over 2,400km of motorways and A-roads.
Kieran Clifton, Director, Distribution & Business Development, BBC, says: “This expansion has brought the BBC’s digital radio services to areas of the British Isles previously without access to digital radio via DAB - places like Machynlleth in mid Wales, Guernsey, Ramsey on the Isle of Man, the Isle of Skye, and the Calder Valley in West Yorkshire. We’ve also reinforced coverage in major towns and cities: Aberdeen, Coventry, Eastbourne, Glasgow, and Leicester, to name just a small selection."
Listeners are advised to check their coverage at bbc.co.uk/digitalradio
DAB digital radio brings the listener more choice, improved sound quality, no re-tuning and extra information on broadcasts. To receive the BBC's digital radio services, listeners will need a DAB digital radio and have to live within the DAB coverage area.
