BBC Studios appoints Tom Sherry as Head of Drama - North
BBC Studios, the BBC’s main TV production arm, has appointed Tom Sherry as Head of Drama-North, to lead its drama operation based in Salford and grow new business.

BBC Studios launched as a commercial subsidiary in April 2017, able to make programmes for other UK and international broadcasters, as well as the BBC, to deliver returns for licence fee payers. Its’ world-class drama includes Doctor Who, War and Peace, Rillington Place, Clique and Three Girls and much loved continuing drama EastEnders, Casualty, Holby City, Doctors, River City and Pobol y Cwm.
Tom joins BBC Studios from Red Production Company, where he worked across development and new commissions as an executive producer and producer on dramas including Ordinary Lies and New Tricks and most recently Paranoid for ITV1/Netflix. He has received numerous BAFTA nominations for his work, including for Prey, Scott and Bailey, and Murphy’s Law and the multi-award-winning Queer As Folk.
Tom has a strong track record in developing new talent relationships and will be establishing a new team to create shows for a variety of channels and audiences, building on the success of BBC Studios Drama North productions like In the Flesh and From Darkness.

Tom starts in his new role immediately and will report directly into Nick Betts.
