BBC Russian launches a major news programme on TV Rain
The BBC’s offer on the Russian media scene has received a major boost with the launch, at 19.00 Moscow Time (16.00 GMT) today, of the 30-minute Monday to Friday global news programme broadcast on the BBC’s partner station, TV Rain (Dozhd).

On air live during prime time, News From The BBC is the culmination of the BBC’s 90-minute programme block on the channel. The BBC Presents segment on TV Rain, which starts at 18.00 Moscow Time (15.00 GMT), also brings the best of the BBC’s dramas, documentaries and factual programmes.
The expanded TV news programme, which replaces the 15-minute news programme, benefits from BBC Russian’s newly enhanced newsgathering operation in the region. It brings top stories from Russia and around the world and the best of news journalism from the rest of the BBC.
Presented by Oleg Antonenko (pictured), the programme will provide the viewers with a comprehensive, accessible look at the day’s developments. Using innovative touchscreen technology, it will bring the Russian audience reports, interviews and analysis. The programme will have a broad agenda, covering issues from politics and economy to business, sports and culture.
The launch of this programme is part of the major enhancement which is underway across the BBC World Service, funded through a £291m grant from the UK Government.
