BBC Radio Wales launches public vote to discover Wales' favourite Roald Dahl character
As part of this year’s Roald Dahl centenary celebrations, BBC Radio Wales has challenged listeners to vote for their favourite character.

Every one of the characters in the long list holds a memory for me... it'll be a challenge for the audience to decide on just one favourite!
Presented by Alex Jones and Mark Goodier, Wales’ Favourite Roald Dahl Character will be a week-long station-wide event celebrating the life and work of the Cardiff-born author.
The Top 10 will be revealed in a countdown across the week of Dahl’s birthday in September, culminating in a special live show with a host of special guests, and interviews with famous fans - including Claudia Winkleman, Nick Grimshaw, Pam Ferris, Fern Britten, Cerys Matthews and Michael Ball.
Alex Jones says: “I remember reading the Roald Dahl books as a child and I'm thrilled to be able to revisit them again in this project for BBC Radio Wales. Every one of the characters in the long list holds a memory for me from The BFG to Matilda and The Twits, it'll be a challenge for the audience to decide on just one favourite!”
Mark Goodier says: “Counting down Wales Favourite Roald Dahl Character live from Dahl's birthplace in the city of Cardiff will be a really special moment. We hope to bring some sparkle to his birthday celebrations with a host of famous fans and listeners sharing their love for his wonderful characters.”
