Families can join the festive fun for three performances that will star a whole host of your favourite CBeebies presenters including Justin Fletcher, Cat Sandion and Ben Faulks. Junior members of The Sheffield People’s Theatre will also have a starring role in the production.

Kay Benbow, Controller of CBeebies, says: "CBeebies continues to set the benchmark for reinventing classic stories in a colourful and fun way for its young viewers. This year’s offering, The Nutcracker, promises to showcase music and dance and bring the story to life. I can’t wait for our audiences to enter this magical land and see what’s in store."

The CBeebies Christmas Show will be a modern twist of the story of The Nutcracker, using music and dance to tell the story of Clara and Fred’s adventure in the Land of Sweets. Families will be transported to a magical land, where toys come alive and a Christmas dance between the mice and the toys threatens to ruin Christmas!

Viewers can apply online for tickets for a Dress Rehearsal on 4 November and two performances of the show on 5 November. The shows are always extremely popular with the CBeebies audience and last year attracted over 180,000 applications. For those who are unable to attend in person, The Nutcracker will also be the highlight of this year’s CBeebies Christmas schedule.

The Nutcracker has been commissioned by Kay Benbow, Controller of CBeebies, and the executive producer is Tony Reed. Jon Hancock is the Series Producer. Jon Spooner is the Theatre Director, and has co-written the adaptation with Clare Duffy.
