Sixth celebrity contestant for Strictly Come Dancing 2016 confirmed
Presenter and former pop star Louise Redknapp is the sixth celebrity contestant to be confirmed for the brand new series of Strictly Come Dancing on BBC One.

I've sung in front of crowds of thousands before, but the idea of stepping out onto that famous dance floor with a world-class professional dancer gives me butterflies just thinking about it!
The announcement was made this afternoon (Monday 15 August) live on Steve Wright in the Afternoon on BBC Radio 2, where Louise confirmed she will be taking part in the brand new series.
“I've sung in front of crowds of thousands before, but the idea of stepping out onto that famous dance floor with a world-class professional dancer gives me butterflies just thinking about it! I’m a big fan of the show and am definitely going to go out there and give it 100 percent as I want to make my boys proud," said Louise.
Louise was a former member of girl band Eternal, before embarking on a highly successful solo career. Eternal were hugely popular, becoming the first all-girl group to sell over one million albums in the UK and remain the top selling girl band of the 90s. Louise went solo in 1995 and her first album, Naked, produced five hits and sold over one million copies. In 1997, Louise embarked on her first UK tour, selling out at over 20 venues across the country including Wembley Arena. Louise released a further 4 albums over the next few years before a final UK tour.
Louise hosted The Clothes Show in 2006, co-hosted Something For the Weekend from 2010 to 2012 and took on the gruelling challenge of The Truth About Size Zero for the ITV documentary. Louise now runs influential fashion and lifestyle blog, A Style Album.
More celebrity contestants for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing will be announced soon.
