BBC launches search for the star of Hull 2017 City of Culture
BBC Hull is offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for aspiring presenters who have a passion for Hull and want to shout about the UK City of Culture 2017.

We’re looking for someone really special - someone with a buzz; an enthusiastic voice and a twinkle in their eye. We want someone who knows Hull inside out, is passionate about the city and its arts and culture.
BBC Hull is searching for the face and voice of Hull 2017 UK City of Culture.
The winning candidate will join the BBC as a presenter and provide coverage for the BBC’s local, regional and national audiences.
BBC Hull, which includes BBC Radio Humberside and BBC Look North, has promised to cover every single event on every day during Hull 2017.
Open auditions are being held in front of a panel of judges with prospective presenters being challenged to prove they are the right person for this role.
BBC Look North’s Peter Levy, BBC Radio Humberside’s breakfast presenter Carl Wheatley and BBC weather presenter Keeley Donovan make up the panel.
The presenter will be fully trained and supported by experienced BBC producers and researchers, working primarily for BBC Radio Humberside, BBC Look North and BBC online. They will also be expected to appear on any BBC programme across the corporation, gaining further experience and national exposure.
Interested candidates do not need any previous presenting experience and are not expected to be a journalist. The BBC is looking for someone with the perfect personality to tell the story of Hull 2017 and come alive in front of a camera and behind a microphone.

Open auditions will be held on Saturday 8 October at Hull Truck Theatre from 9.00am where prospective presenters will present a one-minute pitch to the judging panel. All auditions will be filmed by BBC cameras to be used for broadcast, online websites, or official BBC social media accounts.
A shortlist will be drawn-up at the end of the day and the successful candidates will attend an interview at the BBC building in Hull, Queen’s Gardens, HU1 3RH on Wednesday 12 October. The winner will be announced by the end of October.
The fixed-term post will start no later than 1 December 2016 and run until 31 January 2018.
