Michel Roux Jr says: “I’m very much looking forward to being the first guest host of Saturday Kitchen. I’ve been a fan of the show for many years and can’t wait to cook up some magic with some of the great chefs the show attracts.”

This Saturday, 26 March, will be James Martin’s last show as host.

James Martin has presented the show since 2006, fittingly his last show will be marked with a number of special treats for fans.

The studio will be packed with plenty of nostalgia, classic clips from James’ tenure, and surprise appearances by some of the big name chefs who have made his ten years so memorable. Viewers can finally vote for James to experience his own food heaven - butter - or will he get his dreaded food hell - horseradish?

Some surprise star callers will put James’ culinary knowledge to the test, for example: will he have a cure for Mary Berry’s soggy bottom?

Dan McGolpin, Controller BBC Daytime and Early-Peak, says: “The time has come to give James a final farewell and viewers won’t want to miss out on what promises to be a very memorable last show. Following that, I’m delighted that we can all continue to enjoy our Saturday mornings in the company of some of the nation’s best-loved chefs.”

Executive Producer Amanda Ross says: “We love making Saturday Kitchen and are delighted to be able to continue the show with such an exciting all-star line-up of hosts.”

Saturday Kitchen is produced by Cactus TV for the BBC, and is broadcast live every Saturday at 10am on BBC One. Guest hosts will be used on the show from Saturday April 2. More names will be announced in due course.

James Martin will continue to host Saturday Kitchen Best Bites on BBC Two Sunday mornings.
