Gary: Tank Commander in Proms in the Park 2016 line-up in Glasgow
Gary: Tank Commander is off on manoeuvres once again when he joins forces with Britain’s Got Talent winners Collabro, Scottish mezzo-soprano Karen Cargill, and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra for this year’s Proms in the Park on Glasgow Green on Saturday 10 September.

The corporal (Greg McHugh), known to millions from his own BBC Scotland comedy series, will unveil his musical talents in a duet with fellow Tank Commander and River City actor Leah MacRae. The concert marks the culmination of the BBC Proms season, when music lovers come together at venues across the UK to be part of the magic of the Last Night. The Glasgow event, which will be live on both TV and radio, will be presented by tenor and BBC Radio Scotland presenter Jamie MacDougall and conducted by Stephen Bell.
Gary is relishing, as only he can, taking to the stage with his buddy Julie:

“Whilst folk will obviousleh be aware that I um amazin, what they may not ken is that I also huv the voice ay an angel that can sing, and the range ay a… big golf driving range.
“Bring oan, THE SOANG!!!,” he said.
Since winning Britain’s Got Talent in 2014, Collabro have risen to global fame, gaining fans around the world and bagging a number one debut album. They won the eighth series of the competition, impressing audiences and the judges with their stirring renditions of songs from Les Misérables, and now bring musical theatre to millions through their distinctive style.
Arbroath-born Karen Cargill is one of the UK’s leading opera singers, and regularly performs in New York, London and Berlin. She has a long association with the BBC SSO, having appeared with the orchestra at the BBC Proms several times, and at Proms in the Park in 2009.

Scotland’s Proms in the Park is presented by BBC Scotland with support from Glasgow City Council.

Part one of the Glasgow Proms will be broadcast live on BBC Two Scotland from 7.15pm until 8.30pm, and will feature on Red Button throughout the evening. The whole evening will be live on BBC Radio Scotland.
Amateur musicians have a chance to be part of the Last Night celebrations by joining the BBC Get Playing virtual orchestra. This performance of amateurs playing Bizet’s Toreador Song, will be shown on the Big Screens at Proms in the Park events around the UK. The virtual orchestra is part of the Get Playing campaign which aims to inspire amateur music lovers everywhere throughout the summer. There is more information at: bbc.co.uk/getplaying
Tickets for Proms in the Park are now on sale and are available from bbc.co.uk/promsinthepark or by calling 0141 353 8000 costing £15.50 / £7.50. Booking fees may apply.
As Proms in the Park is a licensed event, alcohol may not be brought in, although it will be available for sale at the event. Bags may be subject to security checks.
