BBC Newsnight appoints new Business Editor

Helen Thomas, currently European Editor of the Wall Street Journal’s Heard on the Street column, has been appointed as Business Editor at BBC Newsnight.

Helen - who, prior to joining the Wall Street Journal in 2013, worked for the Financial Times for nine years - started her career as an analyst in the City. While at the FT, she was the paper's mining correspondent, the New York-based mergers and acquisitions correspondent and a writer for the Lex column. She also helped launch financial blog FT Alphaville.
