A range of new commissions announced for CBBC

Cheryl Taylor, Controller of CBBC, has announced a raft of re-commissions of some of the channel’s most popular brands, including a new series of The Dengineers (hosted by Mark Wright and Lauren Layfield) and the hit factual series Operation Ouch! fronted by popular medical duo Drs Chris and Xand van Tulleken.

Other re-commissions include factual series’ Ice Stars, How To Be Epic and Life Babble, as well the comedy series Diddy TV and school-based comedy drama with raps, The 4 O’Clock Club. There is also a welcome return for the hugely popular CBBC drama The Dumping Ground, which is filmed on location in Morpeth. A new addition to the CBBC family is Ultimate Vets from True North.

Currently attending the Children’s Media Conference in Sheffield, Cheryl Taylor said: “These brands are some of the most loved titles on the channel and we want to give our audience more of the drama and the diverse range of factual and factual entertainment hits that make CBBC such a distinctive public service channel. These re-commissions are a real testimony to the great range of expertise we have working across Indie suppliers and in-house production teams in the Children's TV industry."

  • The Dengineers (12 x30 mins) is produced by CBBC Productions, the in-house team based in Salford. The executive producer is Annette Williams.
  • Operation Ouch! (10 x 30 mins) is a Maverick Production for CBBC. The Executive Producer for CBBC is Kez Margrie, the Series Producer for Maverick is Romily Menzies and the Executive Producer for Maverick is Ian Holt.
  • Ice Stars (10 x 25mins) is a Drummer TV production for CBBC. The Executive Producer for CBBC is Kez Margrie. The Executive Producers for Drummer TV are Rachel Drummond-Hay and Tamsin Summers.
  • How To Be Epic is produced by CBBC Productions, the in-house team based in Salford. The Executive Producer is Annette Williams.
  • Ultimate Vets (10 x 20 mins) is a True North Production for CBBC. The Executive Producer for CBBC is Kez Margrie. The Executive Producer for True North is Jeff Fowle.
  • Life Babble (20 x 4mins) is a BBC Scotland Production for CBBC. The Executive Producer is Julia Bond.
  • Diddy TV (20 x 15mins) is produced by CBBC Productions, the in-house team based in Salford. The Executive Producer is Annette Williams.
  • The 4 O’ Clock Club (13 x 30 mins) is produced by CBBC Productions, the in-house team based in Salford. The Executive Producer is Connal Orton.
  • The Dumping Ground is produced by CBBC Productions, the in-house team based in Salford. The Executive Producer is Jonathan Phillips.
