FA Cup Final 2016 on the BBC

This Saturday, the BBC will deliver dawn-to-dusk programming dedicated to the climax of the most romantic club football competition in the world.

This Saturday, the BBC will deliver dawn-to-dusk programming dedicated to the climax of the most romantic club football competition in the world.

Starting with BBC Breakfast on BBC One (6am-10am), there will be a day of bespoke FA Cup content across BBC One, BBC Two, Radio 5 live and the BBC Sport website, building anticipation and excitement ahead of the main event as Manchester United face Crystal Palace live from Wembley Stadium.

Kicking off the action on BBC Two, Guy Mowbray introduces a look back at the iconic 1990 FA Cup final and the last time the two teams met at Wembley in FA Cup Rewind (11am-12pm). Dan Walker presents Football Focus live from the hallowed grounds of the national stadium on BBC One with former Manchester United cup-winner Phil Neville alongside Kevin Kilbane (12.10pm to 1pm) before audiences are given another chance to watch Jimmy Hill: A Man For All Seasons (BBC One, 1om to 2pm), a moving tribute to the former Match Of The Day presenter.

The Road To Wembley (BBC One, 2pm to 2.30pm) brings a thrilling mix of shocks and classic encounters from the 135th edition of the most famous cup competition in the world before fans are treated to two FA Cup quiz show specials. Sue Barker presents A Question Of Sport (BBC One, 2.35pm to 3.05pm) and Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman brings a special edition of Pointless (BBC One, 3.10pm to 3.55pm).

The special programming and first-class live coverage across TV, radio and digital platforms will provide audiences with a perfect finale to another thrilling FA Cup journey on the BBC.”

Gary Lineker alongside Alan Shearer, Danny Murphy and Ruud Gullit present live build up (from 4.15pm) on BBC One, with Guy Mowbray and Martin Keown providing live match commentary.

On Radio 5 live, Mark Pougatch presents live build-up from midday, bringing all the colour and excitement from Wembley before John Murray and Alan Green commentate on the 135th edition of the FA Cup Final alongside Chris Waddle and Phil Neville.

The BBC Sport website will bring all the build-up, match action and reaction with live text commentary from 10am, reflecting a whole day of Cup Final content across the BBC. Social media will take audiences behind the scenes at Wembley, bring the very best in match clips while capturing the match day atmosphere via debate and curated content from fans who will have the opportunity to vote on the all-important goal of the tournament. Audiences will also be able to choose their preferred Manchester United and Crystal Palace starting XIs with our Team Selector, and share them with other fans across social platforms.

There will be extensive FA Cup Final coverage on BBC Radio Manchester, kicking off with live build-up and excitement on Wembley Way from 2pm with Manchester United reporter Bill Rice and former Manchester United fullback Arthur Albiston. This will be followed by full match commentary (95.1FM/DAB & online in the UK) from kick off at 5.30pm.

BBC Radio London will bring audiences a special programme ahead of the FA Cup final from 3pm as Gary Crowley talks to Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish and ex-player Mark Bright. There will be pre-match build up from 4pm followed by live match commentary from 5.30pm.

As the day draws to a close, Match Of The Day will bring audiences who are not able to catch the live action extensive highlights at 10.55pm on BBC One.
