Max, 7, from Newcastle has won Blue Peter’s Big Day Out competition which asked viewers to design a poster that illustrated visitors travelling around London to visit the sights. The poster will form part of Transport for London’s Transported by Design campaign.

The winning poster, titled Let the Sights See you will now be displayed in key London Underground stations throughout the October half term for London’s millions of visitors to see.

Max visited Blue Peter at BBC HQ in MediaCityUK, Salford, on Thursday and travelled with Blue Peter presenter Barney to claim his prize which included sitting in the front of the tube with the driver, sounding the horn, and visiting the Acton depot which is rarely opened to the public.

Max says: "It was an experience I’ll never forget!"

Mark Wild, Managing Director, London Underground says: "We wanted the competition to show the important role design plays in the lives of people who travel in the capital every day. The winner we’ve picked has really great colours, a great concept behind it, it’s very striking…it was really difficult judging, because the standard was exceptionally high in all of the age groups."

Ewan Vinnicombe, Editor, Blue Peter says: "Blue Peter viewers really stepped up to the challenge in this competition. We had thousands of incredible applications but Max’s poster had everything; amazing artwork and an amazing tagline. Well done Max!"

You can see Max unveil his poster and enjoy his amazing prize on Blue Peter on Thursday 27 October at 5pm on CBBC.
