The series for children was initially commissioned for a year to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Welsh author T Llew Jones’s birth. Following a fantastic response by the audience to the series, it’s now set to continue.

The project, a collaboration between Radio Cymru, S4C and the production company, Boom Cymru, gives children an opportunity to hear more from some of the lovable characters from S4C’s young children’s service Cyw, such as pirate Ben Dant and Dona Direidi, as well as tales about new fictional characters.

Every Sunday at 7 o’clock the simple stories give young children a chance to listen and immerse themselves in the magical world of storytelling in a regular slot. The podcasts and the programmes are available anytime at bbc.co.uk/radiocymru

Betsan Powys, Editor of Radio Cymru says, “By encouraging children, and even better, by encouraging families to listen together, we wanted to give them an opportunity to listen and to imagine. From the early days, the popularity of the podcasts suggests that it wasn’t just us persuading the children to listen!

“It’s the colourful Cyw characters that engage with the children. We want to continue to work with Cyw and S4C, and to give Radio Cymru’s youngest listeners an opportunity to enjoy Stori Tic Toc.”
