Donna Clark, Head of Commissioning, Factual Formats & Features and Live Events, says: “I’m really excited about the new Watchdog line-up. Sophie and Michelle are both great journalists and treasured members of the wider Watchdog team. The studio line-up of Matt, Chris, Sophie and Michelle will bring real dynamism to the team.”

Sophie is a well-known face on BBC news, and has presented many BBC specials at Royal occasions and other national events. She says: "Watchdog is the reason I got into television. After doing two weeks work experience on the programme when I was 16, I was determined to become a journalist. I’ve presented Watchdog Daily and Test House for the past three years. I’m delighted to have been asked to join Matt, Chris and Michelle for the new series. It feels like I’ve come full circle."

Michelle joined the BBC in 2005, and has worked in Current Affairs, Entertainment and Children’s. Her reporting credits include Watchdog, the Crimewatch Roadshow. Michelle said she was thrilled to be a part of the new team – “I’m passionate about uncovering & investigating new stories and excited to work with Matt, Chris and Sophie. I'm genuinely excited to be part of such a fantastic team."

Matt Allwright said “I’m excited about the new stories we’ve got for this series of Rogue Traders.” Chris Hollins adds “I’m really pleased Michelle and Sophie are joining the team. I’m sure they’ll find it as rewarding as we do standing up for our viewers by protecting their rights.”

The new series of Watchdog starts on Thursday October 8th at 8pm on BBC1.
