Gaynor Holmes appointed Head of Drama for BBC Scotland
One of Scotland¹s most experienced TV executives, Gaynor Holmes, has been appointed as the Head of Drama for BBC Scotland.

In a BBC career spanning 14 years, Gaynor’s extensive drama experience includes a string of major TV productions such as Monarch Of The Glen, Waterloo Road, Ashes To Ashes, Garrow’s Law, The Field Of Blood, Reichenbach Falls, Two Thousand Acres Of Sky and River City, among many others.
Aberdeenshire-born Gaynor started her television career in 1995 within the independent sector, working on TV dramas, films and documentaries while also producing several short films. Following this, she worked extensively within BBC Scotland’s drama department working on in-house and indie productions for both Scottish and UK audiences.
Gaynor, who has been the Acting Head of Drama, Scotland, since September 2014 following Christopher Aird’s appointment as one of the two Heads of Drama, London, will take up her new role immediately.

The year ahead is a very busy and exciting one for drama at BBC Scotland with shows including Stonemouth and One Of Us so it’s great to have her at the helm.”
Mark Freeland, Controller of Fiction and Entertainment for BBC Production, adds: “Gaynor has been involved in some great Scottish drama over the years and her experience and passion will stand her, and the drama output, in great stead in the future.”

The appointment of a new Head of Drama, Scotland, comes at an exciting time for BBC Scotland Drama with productions including Stonemouth, One of Us, Shetland and River City.
