Game Of Thrones’ Lena Headey and Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver join voice cast of new CBBC series Danger Mouse
Actress Lena Headey (Game of Thrones, Dredd) and leading comedian, satirical presenter and talk show host John Oliver (Last Week Tonight with John Oliver) are set to join the multi-talented voice cast of the eagerly awaited new animated series of Danger Mouse, it was announced today at Comic-Com 2015 in San Diego.

I wanted to do [Danger Mouse] because it was pure nostalgia for me. I have children now and it’s just a treat to be involved in something that you loved as a kid and be able to share it.
Lena Headey is set to provide the super-smart tones of US Secret Agent Jeopardy Mouse, while Oliver will be breathing life into mad scientist wolf Dr Augustus P Crumhorn III. Danger Mouse will be shown on CBBC in the autumn.
The news was announced at a special panel consisting of key members of the Danger Mouse production team including Chair Bob Higgins (Aquabats Supershow, The Ricky Gervais Show) and executive producer of the series for FremantleMedia Kids & Family Entertainment with Chapman Maddox (Grojband, Max Steel), Sarah Muller (executive producer and head of CBBC acquisitions, animation and drama development Wolfblood, Strange Hill High), and lead writer Ben Ward (Horrible Histories, Tracy Beaker).
And in another exclusive reveal, the panel also announced that villainous vampire duck and original Danger Mouse spin-off character Count Duckula will appear in the new series, testing Danger Mouse’s resolve with his traditionally dark and dangerous ways.
Lena Headey said: “I wanted to do it [Danger Mouse] because it was pure nostalgia for me. I have children now and it’s just a treat to be involved in something that you loved as a kid and be able to share it. Those moments as an actor that come a long once in while are not to be missed.”
Last Week Tonight star John Oliver said: “I’ve loved Danger Mouse my whole life. Danger Mouse was a significant part of my childhood. So to get a chance to do it is like getting a chance to step into your childhood, which is both a magical and a potentially hazardous thing! It will be awesome, I can’t wait to see it, let alone hear myself in it!”
Sassy and stealthy, Jeopardy Mouse is a super-proficient American, female version of Danger Mouse. The unseen star of the US Secret Service, she performs her missions with the minimum of fuss. Meanwhile, long-time Danger Mouse adversary, Dr Augustus P Crumhorn III, continues to cause trouble for Danger Mouse and Penfold with his wolfish, wily scientific ways.
The new cast members will appear alongside Alexander Armstrong who stars as the voice of the world’s smallest secret agent Danger Mouse, Kevin Eldon who stars as Danger Mouse’s trusty sidekick Penfold, Stephen Fry who plays Colonel K and Dave Lamb who voices the narrator.
Licensed to thrill a whole new generation of fans, this reimagined new series follows the misadventures of the heroic, small but perfectly formed super spy Danger Mouse who returns in style to save a world teetering on the edge of disaster. Bursting with boundless confidence, the show’s hero is still as cool as ever as he attempts to overthrow a host of villainous rivals with the help of hapless hamster Penfold and a collection of state-of-the-art gadgetry and vehicles.
Commissioned by Controller of CBBC, Cheryl Taylor, the co-production with FremantleMedia Kids & Family is being animated by Boulder Media, with Sarah Muller executive producer for CBBC, and Bob Higgins and Chapman Maddox executive producers for FremantleMedia Kids & Family Entertainment. FremantleMedia Kids & Family Entertainment owns the global TV and licensing rights to the series.
