From Friday 6 to Thursday 22 February you can catch more than 450 hours of live Winter Olympics action from Milan-Cortina across the BBC. We’re bringing audiences unmissable drama from the world’s top winter sport athletes, and the biggest and best moments of snow and ice sport.

Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony
Friday 6 February
The XXV Winter Olympic Games officially got under way with the Opening Ceremony at the San Siro Stadium in Milan, ending with the traditional lighting of the Olympic Cauldron – with one in Milan and one in Cortina.
Maria Carey and Andrea Bocelli were among the performers. These Games are spread across northern Italy and, in a new innovation, the occasion will also be marked with ceremonies and parades in Predazzo, Livigno and Cortina d’Ampezzo.

Alpine Skiing
The first medals of the 2026 Winter Olympics will be decided on Saturday 7 February in the Men’s Downhill, with the Women’s Downhill to follow on Sunday 8 February, plus a new team combined event kicks off on Monday 9 (Men’s) and Tuesday 10 (Women’s).

Biathlon
Watch out for Team GB’s Jacques Jefferies and Shawna Pendry in this event, which combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting. The sport features several events: the Sprint (10km), Pursuit (12.5km), Individual (20km) Mass start (15km) and the team Relay (4x7.5km).
Biathlon events at Milan-Cortina kick off on Sunday 8 February and conclude on Saturday 21 February with the Women’s Mass Start.

Bobsleigh
The first bobsleigh medal is up for grabs at the Cortina Sliding Centre on Monday 16 February with the Women’s Monobob. Adele Nicoll will make history in Milan-Cortina having been selected as the first British female to compete in the monobob at a Winter Olympics.

Curling
Curling is the only sport to feature on every day at these Winter Olympics, with the mixed doubles getting under way two days before the Opening Ceremony. Team GB will be action across the fortnight and you can follow the full curling schedule on the BBC Sport website.
Watch out for long-established British pair Bruce Mouat and Jen Dodds, who were world champions in 2021 and runners-up in 2025.

Figure Skating
Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson hope to win Britain’s first figure skating medal since Dame Jayne Torvill and Sir Christopher Dean earned bronze in Lillehammer in 1994. The duo, who compete in Ice Dance, won GB’s first figure skating World Championship medal in more than 40 years with bronze in Boston in 2025.

Freestyle Skiing
Keep your eyes peeled for Scotland’s Kirsty Muir and Team GB teammate Zoe Atkin on the slopes, kicking off with the women’s slopestyle qualifying on Saturday 7 February. Newly crowned X Games champion Muir will be hoping to make her mark at the games alongside reigning halfpipe world champion Atkin, who hopes to emulate the success of her big sister, Izzy.

Cross Country Skiing and Ski Jumping are the name of the game in the Nordic Combined, which begins on Tuesday 17 February with the Individual event and concludes on Thursday 19 February with the Team Sprint.

Short Track Speed Skating
Britain’s Niall Treacy will be among the competitors in the Men’s Short Track Speed Skating 1500m on Saturday 14 February and there’s plenty of action from this shorter course throughout this year’s games.

Skeleton
Beijing 2022 marked the first Winter Olympics in which Great Britain failed to win a medal in skeleton but there is every hope of putting that right in style in Milan-Cortina with Matt Weston and Marcus Wyatt both hoping for glory. Catch them in action in the Men’s Heats on Thursday 12 February with the final on Friday 13.
Catch the Women’s Final on Saturday 14 February, before the Mixed Team medals are handed out on Sunday 15.

Ski Jumping
There’s a landmark moment for ski jumping at the 2026 Games as women compete for the first time in the large hill event. See them soar on Sunday 15 February.

Ski Mountaineering
Bormio is synonymous with downhill skiing but some athletes will also be attempting to go uphill in the only new sport at these Winter Olympics – ski mountaineering, or skimo for short. Skiers race up and down a steep course on skis, ‘skins’ (strips of fabric attached to the bottom of skis) and on foot, putting on or taking off their equipment in transition areas between sections.

Snowboarding
Snowboarding events kick off before the official Opening Ceremony with the Men’s Big Air qualification on Thursday 5 February, where just twelve will qualify for the final on Saturday 7 February.
Britain’s Mia Brookes will be hoping for a medal in the Women’s Big Air event with qualification on Sunday 8 February and the Women’s Big Air Final on Monday 9 February.

Speedskating
In speed skating, the track is 400 metres long: the same size as an Olympic running track and rather than racing each other, the athletes race against the clock in a timed format. However in the mass start events all athletes start together and race against one another and the team pursuit sees each team field three athletes who compete in elimination races to reach the final.
