Our response to the killings of journalists in Gaza
BBC Media Action responded today to the latest killings of journalists in the Israel-Gaza war.
Si Bishop, CEO of BBC Media Action, said:
BBC Media Action condemns the appalling attacks on journalists in Gaza. Nearly 200 journalists have now been killed in the current war, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists, including at least 11 in the last two weeks. With international media barred from entering Gaza, brave local journalists are essential in documenting the struggles of real people in this brutal war. They carry out their work amid grave personal risk, and despite hunger and displacement affecting them and their families. Targeting journalists breaches international law. They must be protected.
