That gay kiss - up your Street? updated 04/10/2003
The Street's first gay kiss has caused a bit of an uproar in the press.
Todd Grimshaw (Bruno Langley) will kiss Nick Tilsley
Todd Grimshaw, played by Bruno Langley, 20, will kiss his girlfriend's brother Nick Tilsley, played by Adam Rickett, 25 in the episode on Sunday 5 October. He makes a pass at Nick and leans forward to kiss him but it's not reciprocated.
It's not just the Street's first gay kiss... it's the first time a gay character has appeared on the soap.
Granada TV say they'll be treating the storyline extremely sensitively. But it's inevitably prompted a reaction from some viewers who think it's wrong to show a gay kiss on prime time TV. What do you think of the Street's 'gay kiss?' Is it being done right? Would you like to see more gay characters on TV? Why does a TV character 'coming out' cause such a stir? Is the portrayal of Todd's 'confused sexuality' realistic? And we all know Nick Tilsley's a pretty boy - would you snog him if you got the chance?!
