Fun day out for the family

On Saturday 28th June 2008, we went to Fassnidge Park in Uxbridge for Party in the Park, where there was lots happening.

The kind of activities included face painting, puppet shows, bike racing, arts and crafts stalls to name but a few. Children from 0-11 year olds were all taking part.

There were also fundraising activities from Hasbro Toys, the local scouts, HomeStart Hillingdon and The Mall who also sponsored this event.

There was a dance competition with various dance groups from all over West London. We interviewed two students who were taking part and who were teachers for a group called Futunity UK.

Breakdancing moves

The two students Chris and Wesley are into break dancing, street dancing, hip hop, R n B and other dance styles I haven’t even heard of!!!. They have been dancing for a couple of years now, and absolutely love it! “It started off as a hobby and now it is a profession, where we teach.” they both exclaimed.

There were other dance groups taking part in this competition with ages ranging from 6-20, some performed as freestylers, in duos (duets), quads (group of 4) and teams which consisted of groups up to 8 individuals.

Also at this event we found numerous different arts and craft stalls where some children were having their face painted, making jewellery or making paper maché covered balloons, where it got very messy!!!

Painting

Overall it was a fun day out with the family and a huge local success! Lets hope there are more of these to come! Watch this space!
