Umar was born and bred in London but is half Palestinian and half English. Umar used to love living in London but now feels everything has changed and it is no longer safe to go out. He explained: “I used to like it, but nowadays you can be scared to walk out anywhere”. Help playing audio/video However, Umar is an aspiring singer in a band called Kustom IV where he has been playing the guitar for eight years and actually singing for six. His brother, who is also a talented musician, has played drums in the band for the last six years. Umar has toured all over and due to the internet they have a wordwide fan base as Umar explained: “If it wasn't for the Internet we would be stuck”. ![]() Kustom IV has been featured on various radio stations such as Hayes FM, have appeared at summer fetes and have even made an appearance on TV, albeit for just five seconds! Talking about how music has changed for the younger generation, Umar stated: “I am not into today’s music, I prefer to listen to the American style of music as it appeals to me more”. Umar has classified the genre of music as alternative rock. This is because the songs which they compose are a combination of soft and heavy rock styles. Umar got into singing after being inspired by the rock band 3 Doors Down from America.
