Video NationYou are in: London > Video Nation > Should I stay or should I go? ![]() Should I stay or should I go?Odetta Graves can't take anymore rubbish. Having taken hundreds of pictures of rubbish piled on the streets of East Ham she feels it's time to lay down her camera and move to Leigh-on-Sea.
Odetta Graves has lived in East Ham for 49 years. In that time she has seen the area change and as far as she is concerned the area has gone into decline with limited shops on the high street and lack of investment. The last film that Odetta Graves made was to highlight the high levels of rubbish that was left on the streets of East Ham, along with the high level of to let houses that she feels is a consequence of the coming London Olympic games. Since then the Council has made attempts to make a difference but as far as Odetta is concerned they can't cope with the fly tipping and rubbish left by some residents. She is annoyed that Stratford is seeing the benefits of the coming Olympics and is to be regenerated but not the surrounding areas. It has now got to the point where Odetta feels that she has to move out of the area. All she needs to do is find an area that is affordable and suits her needs. She is attracted to Leigh-on-Sea as it has a vibrant high street with nice bars and restaurants and has nice views of the sea, all things that she feels she can't find in East Ham. Should she take the plunge and head to the sea or stick with the area she grew up in, in the hope that East Ham gets the same make over as Stratford?
